It was my first time there. Had to fill out standard paperwork and they took me in right away - within five minutes after filling out my paperwork. Dr. Harold Reaves is mellow, friendly, and straightforward. I asked for a basic eye test and was administered one. It is a great eye clinic. They don't try and prescribe or charge you for things you don't need covertly. It was refreshing. Will be back next year for my next eye exam.

Wasn’t very informative of my exam, and often diminished importance of me understanding the differences he and his medical assistant often showcased during the exam. This involved them making statements they could not communicate to me what they meant. It made me feel as though they know the information, but cannot understand the information they were talking about because of their lack of ability to explain it to someone else. Also, the eye exam was not covered under medical insurance plan, which makes me believe this is an independent institution, that maybe uses a marketing system to “separate” the level in optometry, considering you don’t need to see an ophthalmologist to have an eye exam. (Often used to find more serious issue - like glaucoma) so maybe this is separating the tedious activity, but sadly works against its initial purpose. But then again, when they did not relate their findings about my “unique characteristics” of my eyes, it pretty much went against the purpose of me seeing the doctor in the first place. Bedside manner should be worked on, while actively still being in research mode. I understand it’s a hard thing to keep up with in the medical profession considering all the facts and relating definitions one must keep up with to obtain the job, but some humanity is still expected in all situations. Received some weird looks from assistant when I began asking too many questions, as well as being curtly cut off by doctor. The resident nurse, guy that saw me before the doctor was pretty great though! Very thorough. Although still needed to be prompt for his findings. But I think that’s just the work culture the office adopted, unfortunately. Receptionists were acceptable.

Dr. Reaves is an excellent Doctor. What makes him exceptional is his genuine care for his patients, taking the time to thoroughly explain the examination and findings. He asks all the questions to gain better understanding of your current health and state of your vision. Then, he encourages you to ask all the questions on your mind. I've encouraged Dr Reaves to friends and family. They walk away huge advocates of Dr Reaves.
