A general/adult and child/adolescent psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, I have been in practice for over thirty years, and am the past president of the American Institute for Psychoanalysis, have been on the faculties of Columbia University and Mt. Sinai Medical Center, and am currently Executive Director of the Karen Horney Clinic in New York City. I am also the author of When Kids Are Mad Not Bad (Berkley Books), Is My Child OK? (Dell Publishing; Book of the Week in NY Times Science Times), Is My Teenager OK? (Kensington Press), and my latest book, When Kids Need Meds: Everything a Parent Needs to Know About Psychiatric Medications and Children.
I have practiced adult, child and adolescent psychiatry in a variety of settings including my private office in Manhattan as well as in outpatient clinics, psychiatric hospitals, and foster agencies. I enjoy a wide ranging practice seeing people of all ages and performing psychiatric evaluations, forensic evaluations, psychotherapy and psychoanalysis and prescribing psychiatric medication. I also provide supervision and consultation to other mental health professionals.
