I noticed as I waited for my appointment, he served a Hispanic/ Latin/ Spanish-speaking patient community and that the elderly of the patients were very trusting and respecting of him. I found that to be endearing and a positive testament to his practice. He was very helpful to my particular issue too; with payment options and with speed of treatment.
I thank him very much for his hard work and wish him good health to continue it!

Dr. Herman Zarate is board-certified in podiatry and podiatric surgery with several years of practice experience, providing comprehensive medical and surgical care to patients of all ages across the Washington, DC area.
Dr. Zarate teaches as an attending at the VA Hospital in Northport, Long Island. He is also an attending physician at Washington Adventist Hospital, Shady Grove Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital.
Dr. Zarate received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He then graduated from New York College of Podiatric Medicine and completed Podiatric Medicine and Surgery residencies at Saint Barnabas Hospital and New York Harbor Healthcare Veterans Affair, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year.
In addition to his initial training, Dr. Zarate takes great pride in his continuing education and remains at the forefront of the latest surgical and nonsurgical techniques by attending courses and annual conferences. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the Maryland Podiatry State Medical Association.
Dr. Zarate is fluent in English and Spanish, and speaks conversational French as well.

I first saw Dr. Zarate for a bone spur several years ago. He is a very wonderful doctor. Very professional, respectful and very knowledgeable. I haven't have any problem with my heel since. I sent my son to him for a toe infection and he took care of him. He is very caring and if you follow his instructions you will be healed. I will always recommend Dr. Zarate because of his good work.

Dr. Zarate was excellent, but all of the appointments for the day were severely pushed back from a morning emergency. I wish that someone in the office called me so that I could have rescheduled, rather than spend my entire afternoon in the office (especially since I came from Alexandria). That said, I'm returning for treatment and know that the wait situation is probably not a normal occurrence.

I was VERY pleased with Dr. Zarate. He was kind and friendly and he was educated and informed more than a few other podiatrist that I have been too. I just REALLY DO NOT CARE for his staff. The receptionist was not friendly to me and another person in the waiting room made the same comment. Also whoever his female assistant was not really nice either. He would have an EXCELLENT practice if his staff was better trained on customer service but HE WAS GREAT!
