About Dr. Michael Petranek
Dr. Michael L. Petranek is a native of Washington, D.C. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology at Brigham Young University. During the course of his studies, he had a unique opportunity to give volunteer service in Buenos Aires, Argentina for two years. Dr. Petranek continued his education at the California College of Podiatric Medicine where he earned a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine, graduating with honors.
He completed a rigorous three year surgical residency program at INOVA Fairfax and Georgetown University Hospitals. This specialized training enables him to diagnose, treat and provide both conservative and surgical care for injuries, disorders, and diseases of the foot and ankle. Dr. Petranek enjoys working with patients of all ages, giving them relief from their painful symptoms, and helping them return to full functional activity.
Dr. Petranek is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and Virginia Podiatric Medical Association.
Dr. Petranek is fluent in Spanish. He enjoys spending his leisure time camping, boating and participating in outdoor activities with his wife and five children. He can often be found biking on the W&OD trail or enjoying the pool with his family.

Scheduling was easy and had no issues at checkin in. Staff was courteous. I waited about 50 mins to be called and then another 10-15 mins before the doctor came in. The doctor was very professional and kind, made me feel at ease. Overall a good experience. Would have been a great one if the wait wouldn't have been as long.

Dr. Petranek diagnosed my foot problem right away and took care of it while explaining what the problem was and then told me that I probably have the same problem on the other foot without me telling him that it was starting to bother me, as well. Amazing! I highly recommend this practice and equally Dr. Pertranik! My surgery, the recovery and follow up visits were so much easier and less painful than expected. I never thought I'd be walking again one week after surgery. I recommend him to everyone I meet.

My visit with Dr. Petranek and his staff went very well. My appointment time was at 2:30 and I was seen by 2:40. The entire visit went by very quickly. The office staff was efficient and polite and thorough! The nursing staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I had a very positive experience. I ended up having a minor surgery which was unexpected but Dr. Petranek made sure I was completely numb prior to starting. Both he and the nursing staff made sure I knew and understood my aftercare instructions prior to leaving. I definitely recommend Mclean Foot And Ankle Center and Dr. Petranek. He is one I will add to my healthcare team.
