I have just completed my second week as a new patient of Dr. Ilya Akselrud. I have chosen to keep him as my primary care physician for several good reasons. First, his approach to treating me as a new patient was incredibly professional. He was knowledgeable, caring, and personable. He ran a series of thorough tests to evaluate every aspect of my physical health. He showed great interest in my lifestyle, previous conditions, etc. Within days of prescribing a drug to treat a light skin allergy condition I have been fighting for years, (for the record I saw other top level professional allergists and dermatologists who couldn't figure out a remedy) I am now feeling much better and the skin condition is almost non-existent. So, I am a big fan of Dr. Akselrud and I intend to keep him as my primary doctor for as long as I can.

Dr Akselrud is friendly and approachable, and he really likes to take his time with patients. For my case though, he happened to not know much about the medical issues I was asking about, so I didn't get much advice from him.

Do not go to this doctor. He was rude, condescending, and confrontational- going as far as accusing me of lying. Also, he was convinced that I had a drinking problem (because I drink a glass with dinner a few times a week) and that I have STI's (despite being in a committed relationship and being regularly tested). Did I mention that it was my FIRST visit and he knew nothing about me? No patient deserves to be treated so rudely.
