Dr. Cohen was an undergraduate at Tufts University. He received his M.D. cum laude from the Downstate Medical Center and was elected to the AOA Honor Medical Society. After his internship at Montefiore Hospital in New York City, he was commissioned as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Dr.Cohen completed his residency training in dermatology at the Yale University School of Medicine where he was appointed chief resident. Dr. Cohen is in private practice in Fairfield, Connecticut specializing in hair loss and its treatment.

First, the doctor didn't even look at my head to see the concerns I had. He literally walked in for 30 seconds, asked me 3 questions, told his nurse to write a script and left the room. Cool. Good talk sir. My main concern, though, was the reception staff, they were colder than ice. The two ladies working the front needed major attitude adjustments. Asking a simple question of whether the doctor has other available days besides the one/singular/only option she suggested does not warrant a loud sigh, eye roll and rude 'No' response. Yikes. Also, to simply ask a clarifying question on one of the forms (seeing as it was my first time, not only ever at this office, but at a dermatologist at that) to the other receptionist does not warrant a harsh and short response of "does it say it on the form?" "Well no, I was just--" "Then don't write anything in!". Really ladies? In my opinion, receptionists are the first and last people patients/clients see; you ruin those encounters, you ruin the whole business. Needless to say, after my follow-up appointment I will never be returning here.

Dr. Cohen was every bit the pro I'd thought he'd be. Great bedside manner, and lived up to his hype. Despite being the best in his field (Hair), you never get the feeling he is talking down to you. The staff was very thoughtful and knowledgable.

Today was my first visit at Dr. Ivan Cohen's office. Maybe it's because holiday is coming but I had to wait almost an hour to see Dr. Cohen and my total visit with him was less than 10 minutes. Since my visit was concerning a small issue with no prescription needed, I can't fully comment on Dr. Cohen's professionalism or his expertise yet. But the waiting time for almost an hour was not quite pleasant.
