About Dr. Laura Uwakwe
Dr. Laura Uwakwe is a dermatologist dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered skin care. Raised in Brooklyn, she is deeply committed to serving communities throughout Brooklyn and across New York City.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Tufts University, Dr. Uwakwe returned home to earn her medical degree at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, where she also completed her dermatology residency training. Through research fellowships and residency training, she developed expertise across a broad spectrum of dermatologic care. She has authored dozens of research publications and presentations in national and international forums. Her academic and clinical interests include procedural dermatology, medical dermatology, hair disorders, pigmentary issues, pediatric dermatology, and addressing healthcare disparities in underserved populations. Dr. Uwakwe combines advanced training with a personal dedication to ensuring that patients of all backgrounds receive compassionate and equitable dermatologic care.

I had an amazing experience at this dermatology office. I was nervous at first, but from the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel comfortable and welcomed. The front desk was professional and efficient, and the check-in process was smooth.
