What should a new client know about working with you?

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my approach to care is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and respect for your unique experiences and goals. I believe that mental health care should feel safe, supportive, and empowering. In our work together, you can expect a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you're encouraged to speak freely and honestly. I take a holistic approach, considering your physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. My treatment plans are individualized and may include a combination of medication management, supportive therapy, lifestyle changes, and referrals to other specialists when needed. I prioritize shared decision-making. That means we'll work together to explore treatment options, discuss benefits and side effects openly, and move at a pace that feels right for you. My goal is to partner with you, not to prescribe a one-size-fits-all solution. Whether you're seeking help for anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, or simply feeling overwhelmed, know that you’re not alone, and that healing is possible. I’m here to listen, to guide, and to support you every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is designed to be thorough, supportive, and tailored to your individual needs. I know that starting mental health care can feel overwhelming, so I aim to make the experience as comfortable and transparent as possible. Initial Visit (60mins): Our first session is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. During this time, we’ll explore your current concerns, mental health history, medical background, lifestyle, and any past treatments you’ve tried. I take a holistic approach, considering biological, psychological, and social factors to better understand your unique story. This session is about getting to know you, not rushing into decisions. After the assessment, I’ll provide my initial impressions and recommendations. If appropriate, we’ll discuss treatment options, which may include medication management, brief supportive therapy, lifestyle changes, or referrals to other mental health professionals for specialized care or ongoing talk therapy. Follow-Up Visits (30–45 minutes): Ongoing sessions focus on monitoring progress, adjusting treatment as needed, and supporting your overall mental wellness. These may include medication management, brief therapeutic support, and time to address any new or ongoing challenges. I welcome open communication and encourage you to take an active role in your care. Therapeutic Style: While my primary focus is psychiatric evaluation and medication management, I integrate supportive therapy and psychoeducation into each session. I do not provide long-term talk therapy, but I am happy to coordinate with your therapist to ensure integrated care if you're working with one or to help you find one if needed. Your care is a partnership. My goal is to create a safe, respectful space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout your mental health journey.
