From the very first session, her compassionate and attentive approach made me feel heard and understood. She took the time to thoroughly explain treatment options, tailoring her care to meet my individual needs.
Her professionalism is outstanding, and her ability to create a safe, judgment-free environment is remarkable. She not only addressed my immediate concerns but also worked to build long-term mental wellness. I left my appt. feeling supported and hopeful.
If you’re looking for a psychiatrist who genuinely cares about your well-being, I can’t recommend Dr. Howell highly enough!

Dr. Iyantta S. Howell is a double board-certified Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist in Michigan who has been practicing since 2008. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from The University of Michigan and obtained her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She went on to complete her Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship training at The University of Pennsylvania’s Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Howell has experience working in a variety of clinical environments, including inpatient and outpatient settings, prisons, residential treatment facilities, and partial hospital programs. She enjoys working with all age groups and has served ethno-culturally diverse populations. In addition to interventions such as medication management, Dr. Howell places a strong emphasis on psychoeducation, with the goal of empowering patients on topics such as disease recovery and disease prevention. She has experience in treating individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Co-Occurring Disorders, Mood, and Psychotic Disorders, just to name a few. Dr. Howell is owner of Align Psychiatric Solutions, which offers consultation services to Primary Care Providers and delivers seminars and lectures with the goal of educating and inspiring on topics relating to mental health. Dr. Howell has experience as a Technical Writer prior to entering medical school, the duties of which included developing, editing, and formatting course material, in addition to collaboration with project managers and graphic designers in order to ensure consistency in training documentation. Outside of work, Dr. Howell enjoys biking, mentoring, reading, and interior design.

I saw Dr. Howell for a telehealth consultation and it was an enriching experience. She is compassionate and helpful, despite a clearly busy schedule. You don’t meet many doctors who hold the space she does, who still manage to validate and accurately diagnose. There was room for questions and discussion, even after a longer session. I never once felt rushed. I look forward to our next appointment, and would recommend Dr. Howell to anyone who wants an attentive and THOROUGH psychiatrist. She cares about others, and deserves the position that she undoubtedly worked hard to be in. 10/10

After six years of searching, I finally found a compassionate and intelligent psychiatrist. Dr. Howell truly listens and puts your needs first. She doesn't chastise or talk down to you like many Dr.'s. I need to ask her where she went to school so I can send my old psychiatrists back there! Hahaha but for such a challenging speciality, Dr. Howell gives it her all and can think outside the box. I am so grateful for her continuing care and give her my highest recommendation.

Dr. Howell is one of the few Psychiatrists that really understands the full lifetime and family history required to properly diagnose ADHD in adults. She's thorough, up to date, and pragmatic in her approach and treatment, taking co-occurring disorders and age-related variables into consideration. I rarely give a full 5 stars; Dr. Howell deserves it. I strongly recommend her.
