My physician referred me to Dr. Pollock. I am happy so far. I feel comfortable with him. This is my first time in therapy.
He is warm, genuine, flexible. Office is calming.

Dr James is attentive and kind. He knowledgeable and reassuring regarding my concerns. Made me feel more comfortable with my primary issues and how to address them in treatment and on my own.
My previous therapist retired and referred me to James. It's important to me to have a provider who is familiar with the gay community.
Dr P came highly recommended. It took me a couple years to finally schedule with him- glad I did! You can tell he really cares about his clients. Very personable and and professional. Scheduling with his assistant was easy- he actually calls/writes back! Answered all my questions before the appointment.
I have struggled with anxiety, depression and PTSD for several years following an abusive relationship. Dr. Pollock has been a literal life - saver, helping me work through and process my traumatic experiences. He is highly skilled and I felt safe with him.
My boyfriend and I saw Dr Petronzi, an associate of Dr. Pollock’s. Dr. P was phenomenal - smoothly helped guide the conversation and poked and prodded us to get to the bottom of the issue that brought us in. My boyfriend doesn’t have any therapy background but he felt comfortable from the get go. The practice was smooth and easy to work with. Highly recommend and very grateful to Dr Petronzi for his help. Hope to come back for some maintenance down the line!

Dr. Pollock offered me short-term, solution-focused psychotherapy. We established goals early on and I met them in 8 visits. As he also practices longer term psychotherapy, I will likely contact him when longer term treatment fits better with my lifestyle and budget. Attractive/chic Chelsea/Flat Iron office.
I sought treatment for cocaine, marijuana and alcohol abuse about 2 years ago with Dr. P. He supported me through a very rough patch in my life. He also linked me to a psychiatrist, group therapy and a sober coach. Even when I slipped, he was a stable and supportive presence. I am happier and healthier than ever. If you are looking for a therapist who understand (and has published) in the area of sex and drugs, Dr. Pollock is your guy! I give him an A++++++++++++++++++
I have been in therapy with James off and on for the past 7 years. Our longest consistent treatment period was about 2.5 years. He has helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life. He has helped me grow in my personal life, professional life, and relationships. I appreciate that he knows me well -- I don't know how he remembers everything! I don't know what I would do without him! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Dr. Pollock helped me through a very difficult time after my relationship ended last year. After working through the initial pain and depression, Dr. Pollock helped me develop new coping skills and improve my self-esteem. He is warm, personable, and highly skilled. He is a great listener and provides just enough insight to help me grow on my own. The office is conveniently located near Madison Square Park. The space is calming and private.
I was a bit skeptical before seeing Dr. Pollock because his reviews and reputation almost seemed too positive. I received his info from a colleague during summer 2016. His office assistant at Chelsea Behavioral Therapy helped me figure out out-of-network insurance benefits. Now I just submit to my insurance monthly and receive a good portion of the fee back. I highly recommend Dr. Pollock because he is practical, intelligent, and caring. I love how he can help me smile and laugh at problems that seemed like "the end of the world" before our session.
I am a healthier person through my work with Dr. Pollock. After turning 50, I thought I knew everything I needed to know about life, yet he has clearly taught me things that my previous life experience did not. He chaperoned me through several major life events. I can attest to the fact that my approach to these events, my attitude about them and even their eventual outcome would have been different without his guidance. I greatly value our relationship.
James Pollock, Ph.D. has provided exceptional couples counseling to myself and my husband over the past year, helping us work through many relationship challenges. We were pretty stuck in some unhealthy patterns before learning new ways of managing communication, conflict, sex, and emotions with James. I highly recommend his services for any couple in crisis who wish to preserve their relationship for the long term. Of note, we greatly appreciated his sensitivity to LGBTQ issues in relationships.
He was very kind and very helpful. Listened to me, asked the right questions, and came to a diagnosis after the right amount of time. Dr. Pollock is clearly passionate about his craft and incredibly knowledgable. I highly recommend.
