What makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider?
I firmly believe in the motto that it is not only the duration of years but the life in those years that matters. I enjoy the opportunity of meeting patients wherever they are in life and the opportunity to assist in navigating the different stages and health setbacks that invariably arise over a lifetime. My experience and interests span all of primary care, including mental and emotional well-being. The privilege to partake in this health journey and the ability to form patient relationships and see their progress over that time is what drives my passion as a physician.
In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs?
A primary care provider should be their patient’s health guide. They are the first contact to navigate one’s health over a lifetime, working to address acute illness, prevent future disease, and optimize current health for the present and the future. This applies synergistically to both physical and behavioral health, both of which are of critical importance to obtaining and maintaining well-being over a lifetime.
