More about Dr. Jay Gross, MD

Dr. Gross was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He attended schools in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Brussels, Belgium and Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He did his internship at Long Island Jewish Hospital, and residencies at Brooklyn Eye and Ear Hospital in Brooklyn New York and at George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. In 1978, he joined the Santa Monica Eye Medical Group in California. During the 31 years he spent in California, Dr. Gross was chief of the ophthalmology section at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and served on their Executive Medical Board for two terms, and was Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine. He was the ophthalmology instructor and clinic preceptor for the Family Medicine Residency program for 26 years and was twice honored for excellence in teaching. He has also donated his time to the Venice Family Clinic and Wise and Healthy Aging (formerly Center for Healthy Aging.) In 2008 and 2009 Dr. Gross was named one of the Southern California Super Doctors by Los Angeles Magazine. He is a lifetime member of the American Registry of Outstanding Professionals and was names in Consumer’s Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists for the past three years.

I have not visited Dr. Gross' office about 10 years; I came to see him for eye infection caused by a cold and dry eye. He is just as friendly, warm, knowledgeable and professional as before. I highly recommended him.
