Getting to know Jennifer Oung Mathurin

MASSACHUSETTS RESIDENTS ONLY. ** Please expect a call/text or email from the office after making an appointment.** **I am unable to accept patients with Medicare and Medicaid/Masshealth even as a cash paying patient.** I’m a board-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the state of MA and founder of Growing Light Psychiatry and Wellness, PLLC. I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, sleep difficulties, burnout, and major life transitions, including perinatal and postpartum mood concerns. You may appear to be holding everything together—but inside, your mind feels loud, overwhelmed, or constantly on edge. I support adolescents and adults who are tired of pushing through and are ready for their thoughts, emotions, and focus to feel more manageable again.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe feeling truly heard is the foundation of healing. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and personalized, with space for both medication support and meaningful conversation. In our first few sessions, we’ll slow things down, explore what’s been weighing on you, and create a plan that feels realistic and supportive. My practice is rooted in warmth, cultural awareness, and respect. I’m passionate about helping people feel more grounded, confident, and connected to themselves again.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start with a thorough psychiatric assessment to gain a clear understanding of your current concerns, history, strengths, and personal goals. Based on that evaluation, we collaboratively develop an individualized treatment plan that may include medication management, therapy recommendations, and supportive lifestyle strategies. I remain actively involved in your care through consistent follow-up visits and ongoing communication, making thoughtful adjustments along the way to ensure you are progressing toward optimal mental wellness.

I can’t say enough good things about my provider. Jennifer is incredibly attentive, compassionate, and truly take the time to listen without judgment. I always feel heard and supported during my appointments. She explains things clearly and work with me to find the best treatment plan, rather than rushing or dismissing concerns. It’s rare to find someone who combines professionalism with such genuine care. I’m really grateful to be under her care.
Jennifer was great to work with. My appointment was online, but she still made it feel very comfortable and easy to talk. She really listened to what I had to say and didn’t make the appointment feel rushed at all. She explained things clearly and made sure I understood everything. You can tell she actually cares about her patients and wants to help. I’m really glad I found her and would definitely recommend Jennifer at Growing Light Psychiatry and Wellness to anyone looking for support.
