“He's an amazing and thoughtful doctor. Shrewd ability to see through personal fallacies but compassionate such that he's reflective as opposed to confrontational. The office space very nice, with an original Picasso (to be fair is closer to Matisse) and a comfy deep couch. All in all, a great experience. P.s. great handshake!”

Getting to know Dr. Jeremy Colley

I have been in private practice for 12 years, keeping it relatively small; on average, I spend about 8 hours a week in my practice. Limiting the number of patients allows me to provide more focused, individual attention than a full-time practice affords. I am not, nor have I ever been, a speaker or promoter for particular medications or pharmaceutical companies, nor do I accept their gifts, samples, or supplies. I prescribe based on sound medical evidence and my clinical experience. My approach is to educate patients about realistic expectations of medication benefits, with full disclosure of potential risks, so you can make an informed choice that is best for you. If I do not think medication will benefit you, I will tell you and explore other ways to help. To that end, I spend just as much time performing psychotherapy as prescribing medication. Psychotherapy, like medication, is extremely helpful for many people with certain problems but is not a cure-all. It is a serious endeavor requiring a substantial investment of time, energy, and money to be effective—most psychological conflicts do not emerge overnight, nor do they resolve quickly or effortlessly. Psychotherapy is mysterious in that it represents an uncharted exploration of your mind, aiming for greater understanding, self-awareness, and contentment, but its methods and goals should always be clear. When recommending psychotherapy, I provide a diagnosis, the theory underpinning the recommended approach, and my best estimate of the frequency and duration of sessions. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University. I completed internships in Internal Medicine and Neurology and a residency in Psychiatry at New York University. This diverse training informs my comprehensive approach to patient care.

Excellent psychiatrist. Professional, knowledgeable, and kind, Dr. Jeremy Colley is a terrific doctor and I would highly recommend both him and his practice.
Dr. Colley is a compassionate, understanding and patient psychiatrist. What really impresses me about him is the ability to master the delicate balance between the professionalism and comfort one needs in a doctor/patient relationship. Therapy with Dr. Colley has made a significant difference in my life. I had been struggling w/ Bipolar Disorder for ten years and he has helped me make more sense of what I feel & why in the last 14 months. It is a pleasure to have him as my doctor. He is respectful and funny, and I look forward to my appointments with him.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Colley’s for many years. Before I met him, I had been to three different psychiatrists and I was at my wits end. I was looking for someone with that rare mix of brains, professionalism, and compassion. All of the doctors I had seen were strong in one area but weak in the others. Dr. Colley has all three in spades. Plus, he’s excellent at asking the right questions and he's a great listener (he often remembers things I told him years ago and brings them back up when relevant). In him, I finally found someone I could fully trust. He has supported me at my best and worst times and I feel lucky to have him as my doctor.
