Getting to know Dr. Jerome Obiagba

Dr. Jerome Obiagba, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a doctorally-prepared psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. My philosophy is the belief that healing starts with understanding your story. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care that focuses on helping you find clarity, balance, and confidence in your daily life. I work with adults and young professionals struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and mood disorders. My approach combines thoughtful medication management, supportive therapy principles, and lifestyle guidance to create a personalized plan that fits your unique needs. Whether you’re beginning your mental-health journey or continuing care, I strive to create a space where you feel seen, respected, and empowered. Together, we’ll work toward lasting wellness—so you can thrive with a renewed perspective. Conditions treated: anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma/PTSD, insomnia, stress, and mood disorders. Services offered: comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, telehealth visits, and ongoing follow-up care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

From our first session, you can expect a calm, respectful, and judgment-free space where your story truly matters. I believe effective care starts with listening, not labeling. My role is to partner with you to uncover what’s getting in the way of your well-being and develop a treatment plan that fits your goals and lifestyle. Whether we’re managing medications, exploring coping strategies, or improving daily balance, every step is guided by collaboration and trust. I take a practical, evidence-based approach to treatment while also recognizing that real healing involves more than just prescriptions; it’s about helping you gain insight, build resilience, and feel empowered in your own growth. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you reach out. We’ll take it one step at a time, together, toward clarity and lasting wellness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Education and Empowerment My patients would leave each session feeling more informed and empowered about their mental health conditions and treatment options. Educating them about their diagnosis, coping strategies, and medication side effects allows them to make informed choices about their care. Example: A patient newly diagnosed with bipolar disorder would have a clear understanding of mood stabilizers, triggers, and the importance of sleep regulation, helping them actively participate in their treatment plan. Long-Term Support and Advocacy Mental health treatment is an ongoing journey. Patients would experience consistent, supportive, and reliable care, where they know they have someone advocating for them, whether it's securing access to therapy, adjusting medications as needed, or helping navigate social resources. Holistic and Integrative Treatment Approach Mental health is deeply connected to physical health, lifestyle, and social determinants. Patients would experience a well-rounded approach that goes beyond medication and therapy, incorporating aspects such as nutrition, exercise, sleep hygiene, and mindfulness. Example: A patient with PTSD might benefit from a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed yoga, and medication management, rather than just relying on pharmaceuticals alone.

In my experience Dr. Obiagba is overall great to work with. Always on time, straight to the point, addresses any issues or concerns, and throughly explains everything you need to know as far as your care plan. I would recommend because he’s patient oriented, appointments are pretty quick and efficient, and very positive and reassuring.
When I decided to see someone for medications, I expected short appointments basically just prescribing meds to try. Jerome actually takes the time to listen to all my current and past problems and actually got to know who I am. He fully explains medications and side effects as well in a manner anyone can understand.
