John Thurman, Jr., DO, specializes in family medicine and is committed to delivering compassionate care to the whole family. Dr. Thurman, a combat U.S. Army veteran, provides comprehensive traditional primacy care that includes annual physicals, wellness checks, healthy lifestyle as preventive care, glucocorticoid injections for soft tissue injuries, chronic care management of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pediatric care and end of life care.
In addition to his conventional treatments, Dr. Thurman also offers osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) in order to treat his patients holistically. With OMM, Dr. Thurman can diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions. He uses hands-on therapy that manipulates the body by applying gentle pressure on muscles, tissues and joints to reduce pain and promote healing. OMM can be an effective treatment for everything from headaches and back pain to joint inflammation to stress and anxiety and more.

Dr. Thurman was professional, likable, proficient, efficient, and knowledgeable with the subject matter, at hand. I would definitely recommend him to a friend, family or colleague. He started off with an ice breaker, which led to me opening up and being comfortable to talk about things that are considered taboo. He doesn't talk to you like a doctor, but an old friend.

I’ve never been inclined to write a review for any previous GPs, but Dr.Thurman was above and beyond my expectations. He was incredibly friendly, had a great demeanor, and was energetic. He was also very informative, talking me through the anatomy he was checking and some of the implications. He made genuine connections between the questions he was asking and his responses, rather than simply checking the boxes. All in all, I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a fantastic doctor.

Dr.Thurman is amazing . I am a first time patient and opposite of experiences I’ve had with doctors previously - he Took the time to genuinely get to know me on a personal level. This was a surprise, and a great one. After personal conversation he went right into understanding why I was there, and trying to identify opportunities to help me. I really appreciate his genuine curiosity, enthusiasm, and professionalism during the office visit. Overall, I’ve never found a primary care doctor so quickly, but after one visit can confidently say Dr. Thurman is the physician for me ! Great experience with the office staff as well!

Dr. Thurman went above and beyond from the moment he walked in - he took the time to really listen and get to know me, answer my questions, and provide as much information as he could while setting a gameplan to tackle my medical issues in the future. Plus, he made me laugh and put me at ease right away with his infectious bedside manner. So happy I booked an appointment!

Doctor Thurman was awesome, full of energy and very knowledgeable. He was funny and truly showed he cared about my reason for the visit. Walked my up to the front to schedule an additional appt and it was overall an excellent visit. I am a very easy going person when it comes to decent/not great experiences and this one far exceeded my expectations. Will definitely be going back for my next visit.
