Johnny Zhao, MD is a medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologist and founder of Skyline Dermatology. A native Austinite, Dr. Zhao graduated from Westlake High School as the salutatorian, summa cum laude. He then attended Duke University and graduated cum laude with a degree in chemistry. Thereafter, he moved to the Midwest and attended Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he was a recipient of the Distinguished Max Rukes Student Scholarship. He achieved selection into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and graduated at the top of his medical school class. Following a year of medical internship in the California Bay Area, he returned to Texas and completed his dermatology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. In his final year of residency, he was chosen by the faculty to serve as administrative Chief Resident, an honor for demonstrating leadership. After finishing all of his training, Dr. Zhao moved back to the Austin area, where his family still lives. He worked for 4 years at Westlake Dermatology before choosing to start Skyline Dermatology. He is extremely excited to be starting his practice in Hutto. Dr. Zhao is passionate about treating the full range of skin conditions, from acne to psoriasis to eczema. He has received in-depth training with the newest biologic medications, which are changing the way many skin conditions are treated. He is also very experienced in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of skin cancer including melanomas. Dr. Zhao also believes that cosmetic dermatology can preserve, refine, and enhance one’s natural beauty. He has performed over 1,000 treatments of Botox and Dysport, the two most commonly used neurotoxins. He is also experienced with dermal fillers, chemical peels, and lasers. Outside of medicine, Dr. Zhao enjoys going to the gym, paddle boarding on Town Lake, and sampling the city’s latest cuisines. He is an avid Duke Blue Devil, Manchester United, and Austin FC fan.
