After graduating from Cornell University, Dr. Heffez received his medical degree from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia, PA. As a resident in Ophthalmology at Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans, LA, he was honored as Chief Resident of his class.
Dr. Heffez completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and was awarded a scholarship in the Mentoring in Ophthalmology Fellows Program. He has significantly contributed to numerous scientific publications; is active in several instructional courses, lectures, and workshops; and is currently involved in clinical research as well as resident and fellow education at the Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center Ophthalmology program.
Dr. Heffez is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.

This practice does not fit or provide prescriptions for contact lenses, a fact not listed on ZocDoc and not mentioned until I already took a half day off work and waited 45 minutes for my appointment. Frustrating to say the least.

the entire office/staff was very professional/efficient. I was very impressed with Dr. Heffez. He explained the problem and subsequent options in very clear and concise terms. This is a busy practice with several doctors. I was impressed with the way the staff handled moving people around and making sure that no one waited for too long without some kind of attention. Dr. Heffez is warm, genuine, and very obviously knows his profession. An excellent first visit and impression.

I went to Dr. Heffez for another opinion. He really put me at ease and recommended monitoring my situation. He takes the time to explain what is going on in terms that you can understand. I would definitely recommend him.

Very good. I went in for a routine eye exam, no specific ailments. One thing though is that Dr. Heffez doesn't do eye measurements for new contacts or glasses prescriptions. They're up front about this though, so it shouldn't be a surprise.

Dr. Heffez was very direct with my consultation/examination. He said what I didn't want to hear, but needed to hear. I liked him. They have a open door policy that I didn't care for, but when I asked him to close the door - he did.
