Getting to know Dr. Joseph Gulino

*Please note Beverly Hills Psychiatry does not accept Medi-Cal or Medicare so patients with either cannot be seen(1). However, patients with commercial insurance are provided with a receipt to submit to their insurance to seek reimbursement. Dr. Gulino attended medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University, followed by a residency in General Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. Since then, Dr. Gulino has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and eventually opened Beverly Hills Psychiatry in 2012 after moving to Los Angeles. In his psychiatry practice, Joseph Gulino emphasizes the importance of accurate diagnosis and a comprehensive treatment plan based on the individual needs of the patient. He begins by taking a full clinical inventory of the patient’s mental health status along with the internal and external factors that contribute to it. This includes a psychological assessment, as well as a physical, social and family history. Once a differential diagnosis has been formulated, Dr. Gulino discusses treatment options, which may include medication, lifestyle changes, psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, or a combination of interventions. His patients are always fully apprised of any potential risks and benefits of the treatment plan and are involved in the decision-making process from the outset. (1) It is recommended that patients with Medi-Cal or Medicare visit their county’s Department of Mental Health (DMH) website to find a Medi-Cal or Medicare provider.

Dr. Gulino has an excellent bedside manner. He is extremely accommodating, easy to talk to, and understanding. He takes the time to talk through everything and gives me the attention I need as a patient. He provides the same quality and level of care through telehealth as he does in person. Highly recommend. Five stars.

Dr. Gulino is Very thorough, and wants the best results for his patience. He is easy to get in contact with and he makes opening up about issues very comfortable .

    A superb practitioner, highly recommend
He’s fine if you don’t have any actual issues. Wouldn’t recommend to someone that’s lived a very traumatic life. Being an alcoholic, self mutilating stripper was too much for him to take on which I guess is understandable considering where he’s located. But if you have like, Beverly Hills problems and are depressed because you have to sell your yacht, he’s your guy. But stay away if you’re a broken soul.... he’ll just see you as a lost cause and maybe he’s right. Also he doesn’t do email which is really inconvenient for someone that doesn’t work normal hours. It’s 2018. Nobody checks their voicemails anymore.

Dr. Gulino saw me immediately and made me feel comfortable. He accommodated me even though I ran a bit late to the appointment. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is very friendly and warm. He was attentive throughout the entire appointment. I recommend Dr. Gulino to anyone looking for a great psychiatrist.
He’s absolutely excellent and I can’t thank him enough for all of his guidance and self realization! A must go to for any and all needs!

Professional & gave me options to think about!
Dr. Gulino is very thorough, professional, has a calm demeanor and was able to work exceptionally well with my teenager. I highly recommend him.
As someone who as a general aversion towards doctors of all types, I can say I have genuinely never enjoyed going to a doctor's appointment more. Before meeting with him, I was eager to get in, get assessed and get out...an hour and a half later, I felt like there was no better way I could have spent my afternoon. Reading through the other reviews: his calm, non-intrusive, comforting approach is clear and consistent with all clients, myself included. I feel better already [pre-medicated] ! Dr. Gulino is the high-caliber standard of what all doctors should aspire to be.:) What a pleasure. Thank you.
He's the best!! So thorough and knowledgable and patient. Really goes above and beyond, and is super professional and helpful.
Dr. Gulino was personable, professional and understanding. The last think I wanted to do was to see a psych; however, Dr. Gulino is someone I will def. return to. I just felt comfortable and I think that's what matters most with a doctor.
I think Dr. Gulino is great!
He's very intelligent and relaxing to talk to. Ive been twice and both times i didn't wait and he was very professional. I recommend highly.
Dr. Gulino was very professional and intelligent. He speaks to you like a peer and an adult which I personally appreciated because I've had therapists that talk to me like Mr. Rodgers and reading rainbow combined, and as I'm 31 years old I personally find that approach a little condescending. I enjoyed my appointment very much and I would definitely recommend Dr. Gulino to anyone who wants a straight shooter who knows his stuff.
I just moved out to LA from NY and was in need of a doctor. Dr Gulino is incredibly knowledgable and professional. He's thorough, non-judgmental and makes you feel comfortable. Highly recommend!
He was very pleasant. Will continue to see him.
Dr. Gulino was professional and knowledgeable and easy to talk to. His more or less casual conversation approach made me feel comfortable being honest about my needs and what I was looking to accomplish.
