Dr. Joseph Hung is a triple-board certified specialist with expertise in interventional pain management and clinical informatics. His clinical practice is focused on the evaluation and non-operative management of musculoskeletal, sports injury, and spine-related painful conditions. Dr. Hung trained at Johns Hopkins and Harvard Medical School - Massachusetts General Hospital. While at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Hung was distinguished as Chief Resident for demonstrating consistent excellence in clinical skills, teamwork, and leadership. In addition to being a skilled clinician, Dr. Hung has degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and in Biomedical Informatics from the Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine. Before attending medical school, he worked as an Information Technology professional in various positions at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, UBS Investment Bank, and Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company. As both a healthcare provider and computer engineer, Dr. Hung believes in using the most up-to-date technologies and medical evidence for patient care. He has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and abstracts while also lecturing at national pain management conferences. In addition to his current position at the Hospital for Special Surgery, he is an Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College.
