Brianna Carter is a MHC-LP. She earned her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and graduated with honors from Iona University. Brianna also earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology and received a certificate in Early Childhood Education. While attending Iona University, Brianna primarily worked with adolescents between the ages of 13 to 17 years old at a psychiatric hospital. The clients she helped dealt with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, ODD, anger issues, and substance abuse. Brianna was drawn to the mental health field because she understands the importance of treating mental health issues, especially at a young age. Since mental health is often overlooked, it is crucial to bring attention to it.

My purpose is to help you overcome your obstacles and understand who you are as a whole. I create a safe space for my clients, which allows them to lower their walls and to be vulnerable. This is a journey for us to encounter together. You are not alone.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I use different modalities such as CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness-based techniques to aid you through this process. We will challenge those negative thoughts and behaviors and incorporate healthy coping skills to utilize in your daily lives.

Becoming a new mom has been both wonderful and overwhelming, and Brianna has been such an incredible support through it all. She really understands the mix of emotions that come with this transition and helps me feel less alone in it. Our sessions give me a place to slow down, breathe, and figure out how to take care of myself while taking care of my baby. I feel more balanced and supported because of her.

During my visit I felt very welcomed. I wasn’t pushed to do anything and or say anything about my situation I went through. She explained to me on how to handle further experiences so I basically don’t have a relapsed of trauma that I went through. She also gave me exercises to do on my own free time that I can use through out my life. Very appreciative of what she had done for me.

From the very first session, she made me feel seen, heard, and safe. Their calm presence, deep empathy, and non-judgmental approach helped me open up in ways I never expected I could.
What stood out most was their ability to listen deeply and ask the right questions—not just to uncover the surface issues, but to help me understand the patterns and beliefs that were holding me back. They equipped me with practical tools and strategies that I still use daily. Whether it was cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, or simply having a space to talk through things, I always left our sessions feeling lighter, more grounded, and more hopeful. Extremely informative, great technique, knowledgeable and understanding. Brianna has a gift of helping people. She relates and always have a positive mindset even when you’re at the lowest point in your life, she always reminds us of the positive in us and focus on that.
