Dr. Joseph Jeret has been practicing general neurology for 30 years. After completing his undergraduate education summa cum laude at Brooklyn College, Dr. Jeret graduated from his medical studies with distinction in research from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He then went on to his internship in Internal Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center, before returning to SUNY Downstate for his Neurology residency program. In addition to his board certification in Neurology, Dr. Jeret is fellowship-trained in EEG and EMG/NCV neurodiagnostics studies. Before joining Optum in January 2023, Dr. Jeret was in private practice in Rockville Centre for 25 years and with Mount Sinai Doctors in Hewlett for nearly 5 years. During his time in medicine, Dr. Jeret has provided personal care to over 25,000 patients with all aspects of neurologic illness and has presented and published over 70 peer-reviewed papers. Additionally, in recognition of his accomplishments in the field, patient care, education, board-certification, and research, Dr. Jeret has been awarded fellowship status in the American Academy of Neurology. He is active in local charitable organizations and known for his sense of humor.
