I never got to have actual care provided by Dr. Joe. I had my initial appointment and I was impressed by his knowledge and the comprehensive exam he conducted. He had me schedule an appointment for the next day to review my x-rays and discuss a treatment plan. 30 minutes after my appointment time the next day, I was ushered into a conference room and Dr. Joe explained my x-rays in great, flourishing detail. He then outlined a treatment plan which all but promised to cure everything that ails me. It sounded too good to be true. He then pitched me medical care like he was selling a timeshare. He wrote down a price, but they would cut me a deal if I paid in three monthly installments, and if I paid all up front I got an even better deal. Who pays up front for over 40 medical visits which have yet to be billed to insurance?! I didn't feel like a patient, I felt like a potential client. When we couldn't agree on business terms, he was happy to see me out of the office.

Appointment and evaluation was great. Doctors personality was great and felt meaningful. The follow up on evaluating my needs was clear BUT the financing conversation about the recovery process, seemed very off putting and like I was negotiating financing my recovery. The office required and requested an upfront payment or monthly payment plan (more than insurance copay) to cover cost outside of insurance in the future…before any insurance was processed. I understood what he was trying to do to reduce cost, but like he was attempting to take advantage of my current situation.

I filled out a 5 page doc. When I met with the doctor, he asked a number of specific questions and took more detailed notes regarding my issues. He made sure he was very informed about my problems before we made a goal plan. He will study my case before he plans to do anything. I’m looking forward to my second apt where he’ll begin my plan.
