Dr. Joseph Reich is an licensed clinical psychologist practicing in Brooklyn, NY. He then earned a master's and doctoral degree in psychology from Pace University where he graduated with honors.
Dr. Reich received clinical training at New York City Health and Hospitals, New York State's Office of Mental Health, and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Interpersonal Psychoanalysis at the William Alanson White Institute.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach is first and foremost person-centered. Your therapy should be built around you, and with someone who respects and cares for you. Warmth, empathy, and rapport are not just parts of a nice bedside manner but a critical part of the treatment itself. With every client I try to model the unconditional positive regard that I hope to help them build in themselves.
In specific terms, I use a combination of classic, time-tested clinical approaches (psychodynamic, interpersonal), mindfulness, and cutting-edge attachment and trauma techniques (AEDP, IFS). No two people are the same, so I customize the treatment based on your needs and what works for you.

There are so many great things about Dr. Reich that stand out. He has a unique and special way of putting me at ease, even though I’m often one tiny little step away from meltdown mode (they’re coming to take me away haha…). He listens very well (for a man). He completely validates me despite my plethora of idiosyncrasies and mental /emotional shenanigans. And he’s just so darned smart and insightful.
