About Dr. Joseph Terlizzi

Dr. Terlizzi is Board Certified in General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery, and is Assistant Professor of Surgery at Mount Sinai. He treats disorders of the colon, rectum and anus, including hemorrhoids, abscesses, fissures, STDs, anal dysplasia, cancer, constipation, incontinence, and pilonidal disease.
He graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, trained in Surgery at Saint Vincent’s in Manhattan and Rutgers University, and returned to Thomas Jefferson University for specialty training in Colon and Rectal Surgery. He received numerous awards for research, academic excellence, teaching, and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He published in the fields of surgery and skin disorders.
Dr. Terlizzi joined the pioneering medical practice of Dr. Stephen Goldstone, who founded Laser Surgery Care in 1987 and is internationally renowned for High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA) and anal dysplasia. He developed treatment modalities for precancerous lesions and has written over fifty articles on the subject.
Patients from all around the world come to our Chelsea-based practice since we are a premier site for the treatment of HPV, anal dysplasia and STDs Dr. Terlizzi brings expertise in the management of rectal bleeding, pain, cancer, hemorrhoids, and complex fistulas, among other disorders. We treat many conditions non-surgically, and when procedures are necessary, most are performed in our comfortable AAASF-certified office. Sedation is provided by an anesthesiologist and patients go home the same day.
Dr. Terlizzi offers the highest level of skill, compassion, and personalized care. He is friendly, easy to talk to, and fluent in both English and Spanish.
