Office staff was friendly when I first arrived. A young lady took my blood pressure and checked my pulse but I found it kind of odd she didn't introduce herself or address her role at the doctors office. She was dressed in normal clothes with a stethoscope around her neck but again didn't make any introductions. The doctor was very straight forward, I wouldn't say she wasn't friendly or unfriendly more business focused. The doctor did take the time to go through my symptoms and history and prescribe what she felt was best to get ride of the issue and "not put a bandaid on it". I will be seeing her again for a follow up next week which I do appreciate.
The receptionist was one of the most polite and pleasant receptionist I've ever met. Dr. Samson spent a quality of time with me and had a great bedside manner.
Extremely long wait time. Didn't give any real clarity on illness, pretty much regurgitated what I was already told. Offered no alternate solutions. OK doc but not for me.
Very thorough physical examination and very goos bedside manner. The office staff is very courteous and helpful.
Dr. Samson is a wonderful physician. Very thorough & very professional. Highly recommend
Dr. Samson is very direct she took my information while inputting it into her laptop I kike this because I can correct
Dr Samson is compassionate, considerate and knowledgeable. The staff is professional and efficient.
Dr.Samson is flawless as a Pulmonologist, she understood all the breathing issues I was facing, conducted the necessary tests and recommended the exact medicine that was needed to treat my issue.
After going to a walk-in medical office and being diagnosed with asthma for a persistent cough, it still wasn't going away. I made an appointment with Dr. Samson and was given some meds that actually did the trick and cured my cough. However, she had me come back multiple times for followup tests and changes of medicines that I thought didn't really require me coming into the office again. However, it was always a quick trip - I never was waiting long. The other thing I didn't like is that I never got an official diagnosis - I'm glad my cough was cured but would like to know what caused it so I can prevent it from happening again.
I've been going to Dr. Samson for one year now and she has been very good.
Very nice doctor, brisk and to the point. However, I felt that the EKG and the follow up visit to receive test results were unnecessary (I paid copay for a 5 minute visit)
She is straight to the point and gets the job down. She actually helped my asthma symptoms immediately. Great doctor..
Very good doctor that really cares about her patience. Her staff is very nice too. Also, only had to wait five minutes before admitted me. Will book again!
Very detailed, gentle but firm. Dr. Samson is a very caring person, her staff are very professional, pleasant and accommodating.
I think the doctor was knowledgable but it was hard to tell. Asked a lot of questions from behind her computer and ran a couple of in-house tests. Then, when I thought I finally would be able to ask her some questions, she gave me a couple of tests to do outside of the practice and sent me on my way. Didn't feel heard, supported, or helped. For example, I told her that the inhaler I was using wasn't helping and she just said, "keep using it."
Dr. Samson is warm and professional. She is knowledgeable, but made it clear she only wanted pulmonology patients. I booked with her for primary care, as she is self listed as a general internist, in addition to pulmonologist. If she only wants specific patients, she should not advertise as a general internist. I will not be returning after my initial follow up.
terse but capable
I had an appointment scheduled at 5pm on a Friday and had to wait for an hour to see Dr. Josephine Samson, but it was worth it!!! I had a flu and a nagging cough for three weeks, the flu eventually went away but the cough was severe and for 3 weeks I felt really terrible - I already tried a couple different meds and was still coughing non-stop. After seeing me, Dr. Samson gave me a very strong antibiotic and a steroid for inflammation - I got better in two days and now I can exercise and eat normally. I highly recommend Dr. Samson - she knows her stuff!!
I was in and out in 15 minutes, on my way to get chest scans, prescription in hand. Very nice lady.
Doctor was cordial and professional. Wait was at or just over 30 minutes. Office staff was friendly as well.
Excellent, professional, listened to my account of my symptoms. Very experienced and thorough.
My visit was decent. A 5 on a scale of 1-10. The office is beautiful on the outside and in the waiting room but the office and examination room that I had were far from impressive. Dr. Samson is knowledgeable but not very warm so if you need that kind of thing you may be disappointed.
Quick and easy visit. I highly recommend Pr. Samson to everyone.
She remains a true gem in the busy New York City Practice. She has compassionate and straight to the point. I would recommend to anyone in NYC to seek her care!
it is a traditional medical practice and it is a rarity in New York City these days. Office is comfortable and the front desk folks were very friendly. This is how the medicine should be practiced and Dr Samson listens to you and pay very close attention to your needs.
Dr. Samson was direct and professional.
First off, the decor of the office was old and the medical rooms were not new and looked messy. I arrived and gave the front desk my ID and insurance. Then after waiting for 30 minutes, I was taken by a PA to a medical room to be weighed, measured height and blood pressure. Then went back to waiting room for another 30 minutes. Finally met with the doctor in the same medical room and told them I was there for an annual physical. She looked at my body and then told me I needed an EKG. I didn't know what it was but thankfully I read an earlier review similar to mine. The doctor left and the PA administered the EKG test, I asked the PA if the EKG was covered and she said yes. (If I am charged, I'm going to be upset) Then after the EKG, I met with the doctor and she said everything was all fine. I was told to come back for a check up in 2 weeks. I do not feel satisfied with my check and my time felt wasted.
Very quick. You need to ask her to explain why she does certain procedures, but that's not necessarily a negative. Has prescribed me medicine that is abating my symptoms and that otherwise has never been recommendd to me by a primary care physician. I can't complain; my lungs are happier for it.
Very happy with Dr. Samson!
The clinic has not emailed me or forwarded a flu vaccine documentation I requested from them for two days now. I also had a huge right arm bruise after the flu injection due to bad injection technique.
I contacted the Dr.'s clinic to send me an email of certifying on my recent flu vaccine I got from the clinic. I developed a huge hematoma/ bruise on my right arm after the flu vaccine injection by Dr. Samson. She also referred me to her other MDs for cardiology consult and urology consult without asking my preference.
I desperately needed to see a lung specialist, and Dr. Samson was the only one that was available soon. Given her free availability, I find it weird that no one in her office responds. I was given 3 prescriptions from her and it's been a week and I still only have 1 because she hasn't given my pharmacy new prescriptions. Now when I call her office, there is no response and no where to leave a voicemail.
The visit was quite satisfactory. Staff was friendly. The doctor was very professional and efficient, addressed my concerns directly.
The office location is great but yes, all the medical equipment they use is super old. I waited one hour which was really annoying. I'm sure she knows a lot about lungs and pulmonology but she prescribed me antibiotics and steroids without even explaining what it is and what it's for. They just sent the prescription to my pharmacy so I had no idea what I was going to take. Professional but not very warm. Don't feel like going back.
I was in the ER over the weekend and told to follow up with a primary care doctor on Monday. Since I don't have one, I chose Dr. Samson as she's near work and came highly reviewed. I have to say, I waited ONE HOUR before I saw the doctor. 30 minutes until a nurse took my pulse and blood pressure and then another 35 minutes until I saw the doctor. She did a full exam since it was my first visit, and included an EKG?!?! Who does this on a checkup?? Really. Just a reason to bill, and quite unethical in my opinion. I will not be returning and would not recommend.
She was pleasant
I reached the office earlier than expected and was warmly received by the receptionist. He had my prepared paper work ready from ZOCDOC and so I did not have to fill out any forms (GREAT!). In the appropriate time I was seen by the nurse and the doctor. Dr. Samson was friendly and I was quite comfortable with her.
Dr. Samson is not the type to sit and shmooze with you but she's thorough and efficient. I felt like she asked the appropriate background history in order to get an idea of what's been making me sick. I saw a different Pulmonologist one week prior to seeing Dr. Samson and didn't feel like he cared nor knew what he was doing. I will be following up with Dr. S from here on out.
Great doctor. Very thorough.
Dr. Samson was nice and professional, and I understand that she is a primary care doctor and a pulmonary specialist, so what I saw her for (some unexplained bumps) wasn't entirely her speciality. However, I disliked the whole experience at her office. The office looks like nothing has changed since 1975; everything is cramped, worn, and aging. The staff was friendly, but very soft spoken and difficult to interact with. The examination room was also used for storage. The nurse tech wrote my vitals down on a scrap paper she tore off from the bed. There was some miscommunication on whether or not this was an annual physical (it was not, so no need to give me an EKG with the ancient machine in the examination). She eventually prescribed me a steroid cream with no explanation of what it was, possible side effects or reasons not use it, etc. Dr. Samson might be a great doctor for some, but I need more information, interaction and a cleaner, sleeker, modern space and system.
Wait time was way over an hour - doctor was not even in office at time of my scheduled appointment. Staff was not too helpful when asked about my appointment time. I will not be going back.
Dr. Samson is great!
Dr. Samson is very professional and very knowledgeable!
She was awesome!
Pleasant staff, great bedside manner, thorough review of patient symptoms and concerns
She is very smart and nice to talk to. Very satisfied.
She is great!
really small exam rooms. she was very helpful in answering all my questions.
She was was very efficient and seems to know her stuff. Not very forthcoming with information.
The office was honestly rather unkempt and Dr. Samson was very abrupt. I did not feel listened to and her bedside manner left a lot to be desired. Would not recommend.
Dr. Samson is efficient. I have used her in the past with good results. Her bedside manner is lacking warmth. She is a very distant.
Doctor was very thorough in asking prior medical history, exposure to allergens, family history. Ordered chest xrays, did in-office ECG. Dr. Smason was warm, courteous and efficient. Her staff is lovely...definitely recommend!
Dr. Samson is very professional and efficient. Her assistant is very helpful. Will come for follow-up appointments. I would like to visit Dr. Samson in the future.
my visit was painless, and have a scheduled followup to discuss my lab results
I wouldn't recommend this doctor. I went to her last August to get a check up for some asthmatic/breathing difficulties that I've been experiencing. The nurse who conducted the tests with me was great and I do remember her being attentive and helpful. Dr. Samson herself wasn't particularly memorable, however, and all I recall at this point is that she was okay but seemed disinterested. I'm not the most annoying person in the world, but as a patient, I take care to ask a lot of questions and to make sure I have expressed all of my symptoms, in case they shed extra light for the doctor/medical team. In any case, Dr. Samson didn't seem to take much interest in the information I was trying to provide. However, all of that, while disappointing, wouldn't warrant a harsh review on my part. The kicker for me is that Dr. Samson referred me to an outpatient service to get a chest x-ray done. I went and did it promptly but never once received a follow-up phone call or communication from Dr. Samson's office about my results. Not to this day. On my side, I had actually lost her contact information and even wtih all my powers of google sleuthing, could not find it again. Until today, when I realized that it was stored on ZocDoc. I called her office today (nearly a year later) to finally follow-up on the results and no one seemed the least bit perturbed by this mistake or oversight. I'm assuming my results were healthy and fine, but what if it had been an oversight? Wouldn't the office be concerned about that? In any case, I just found the entire experience lacking empathy and a pretty basic standard of professionalism. There are so many pulmonary specialists in NYC, so just find someone else.
Very thorough and meticulous about examining all possibilities of diagnosis.
Very nice office and staff. Seen promptly, easy registration, and thorough examination.
I highly recommend Dr. Samson. She was very knowledgeable and caring. She took the time to listen to my health issues. We accomplished a lot in one appointent. Her office was nice and the staff was efficient and friendly. I felt like the check-in, check-out process and my entire visit was effortless.
Had to find a Pulmonary doctor on a Friday afternoon. Not that easy . Lucky to get Doctor Samson to see me and she helped me. To be fair she knew I was seeing another doctor who was on vacation so she did the necessary and refered me back to him.
I found her to be very thorough and efficient.
It was a good visit I would recommend her to amyone. She is my primary care physician now.
Overall very good.
Visitation rooms a little cramped and dingy. I was asked to sit in the same chair where I put my purse and my books, and tests were conducted on me while in that chair! There wasn't even an inch of space anywhere else, except on the floor, to place my things.
Checked vitals and asked your history. Overall did her job.
Many private conversations are held in public earshot, which I did not necessarily agree with. Other than that, everything was professional and comfortable.
Efficient, but seemed to take my self-diagnosis more seriously than I would have liked. Efficient and thorough in her exam, but did an EKG that seemed unnecessary for a 'normal' check up
She knows here sutff, but also seems pretty disengaged, she called me into her office then stared at ur her computer for my stats without saying anything for a few minutes...i know she's a good doc, but she seems friendly, but kinda feels rushed and not to sympathic.
The doctor is fine but there so unreliable, long waits and there staff is inefficient. I have been trying to get this letter and I have been calling for 3 days and no response.
Doctor was excellent. . Eased my concerns and was very thorough of my needs. .will definitely gi back to her..
I didn't feel like she really wanted to take the time to talk to me.
Both times I saw her she arrived extremely late. As in - she didn't even show up to her office until an hour after her first appointment so everyone was seen very late. The first time she didn't even mention it - the second time was longer and she apologized. She also took my previous diagnosis for granted although I am not sure it is accurate - maybe it is but I did not feel as if enough time was taken to really assess it. She also ran some tests without even explaining to me why or what for or the details of the results (I had to ask the nurse/assistant). She was friendly so the visit wasn't totally awful but it certainly wasn't what I would hope for.
She's great and office is nice.
The examination room was a little cluttered and cramped, but it's Manhattan, so space is scarce. The staff was very friendly, and the billing department was very accommodating.
AWFUL! She was always mediocre at best, but the most recent visits are so bad that it cannot be ignored and I will be switching physicians. Her staff are untrained and inexperienced family members. The doctor herself is ALWAYS late at least 20 minutes no matter if I have a morning appointment or not. She is cold and unapologetic about the wait. The office is a big, outdated mess. The machines are at least 30 years old, some of which are no longer considered to be medically accurate (I also work in a physicians office as a practice manager and have several family members who are physicians). She unnecessarily makes you agree to several tests, and then later tells you the cost is additional. Furthermore, the doctors to whom she refers you are also all awful!! It's easy to book an appointment thanks to ZocDoc, but that's the nicest thing I can say about Dr. Samson.
She seemed knowledgeable and was very professional.
i wasn't very impressed- i know she's in the lenox hill hospital circuits, but the lobby was nice- the actual doctors office was subpar, and the process/equipment didn't seem up to date.
Dr Samson is professional but very detached. Does not spend too much time getting to know the patient.
Dr Samson and her staff were excellent
I am not picky with being efficient, but she was so rushed when I was the only person she had to see in the particular time frame. Her instruments were all outdated (I am sure they were all calibrated, but they could be inaccurate in readings). She cut me off in the middle of trying to tell her my medical history, basically rushing me into an EKG. When I told her about my allergies, she asked no further questions and just prescribed me the usual meds every doctor prescribes. She was so rushed that the appointment only took 15 minutes. I also do not like that blood work must be done in another location (a lab) and follow up is another appointment. It seems she only cares about the money and getting the appointment over with.
This was the most humiliating, frustrating, and terrible doctor visit I have ever had. I was a new patient, and Dr. Samson came out to announce my name, and before I could get up to walk toward her disappeared into her office. She didn't introduce herself. She asked me all of my medical history questions with the office door open, and without any poise or consideration, while staring at her computer and not making eye contact. She was never say what was next or why, just get up and leave one office and expect me to follow her to the next. When she did the exams she told me concerning news. As a very healthy young person who never gets such news I was somewhat scared and upset with the news. She did not ask if I had questions, or give me further information about whether or not to be concerned, she just left the room again. When I returned to her office from the exam room, she gave me two lab referrals and three prescriptions without telling me what she thought was wrong with me (I had come in with sinus symptoms) or where to get the labs done. As I was trying to ask her for clarification, she got up and walked out to the waiting area, and loudly told the receptionist to give me lists of places for all the doctors and labs I needed (which was very personal information). And then walked away without saying thank you, good bye, follow up, etc. I left the office feeling worse, anxious and crying. It was terrible. I would never recommend these services to anyone.
She was extremely knowledgable and is helping me! Great doctor. Highly recommend
Dr. Samson was very thorough and took the time to talk me through everything. Everyone in her office was very nice and helpful.
Brief but professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Well return to her.
She's a very thorough Doctor and has an excellent and accommodating office staff.
She is nice, warm and professional
Very thorough, very nice.
She's thorough and fast. Hopefully correct in her diagnosis. Otherwise not bad
Dr Samson was great very thorough and cordial
She was lovely but I am afraird to say that her offices were hideous. They are cramped, and unkempt. Great address right off 5th avenue, but the space is in dire need of a complete renovation. Rugs were curling up from what looked like a flood, old furniture ( all looked like she had gotten from the salvation army or found on the street). Interior was a real mess. I could not recommend her to anyone because they would be horrified by the environment. I'm not saying the offices were dirty. But they looked dirty and at one point, I almost walked out, because I thought, what kind of judgement could this doctor have to have such a mess of a place. I didn't leave because I needed to get my asthma meds. Sorry to say it, but this was my experience.
Great doctor! Friendly, knowledgeable and caring - I couldn't have found a better primary care doctor!! Staff is great, too!
Knowledgeable doctor. Seemed very busy/rushed. Beautiful office. Very kind/patient assistant.
Very thorough and on point. Will have more reviews after next appointment.
Dr. Samson was quick, but thorough. She asked all the necessary questions and I was very pleased.
She was thorough. A bit rushed, but answered all of my questions.
Dr. Samson was very thorough in her exam and in questioning about my past and family history. I was able to sit with her in her office first which was nice. She was very friendly and I feel I've found my new GP!
Very efficient with a good sense of humor
