“I really enjoyed her bedside manner and approach. She was knowledgeable about different aspects of general health, and offered to connect me with and or refer me to other specialists if needed (dermatologist, gynecologist, etc.). Great listener and very thorough. We went through my initial appt, body region by body region to note any concerns, history, etc.”

Getting to know Judith Williams

Hello! I'm Judy Williams, a dedicated family practitioner and psychiatric nurse practitioner with nearly 15 years of experience focused on nurturing mental health for individuals aged 12 to 65 and beyond. I hold a Master's degree in Family Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Northeastern University. My practice addresses a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and traumatic experiences. I believe in each person's unique journey, and I use a variety of strategies, from engaging in talk therapy to careful medication management, to help reshape perceptions and confront obstacles. I understand that healing is often non-linear, which is why I prioritize building a strong rapport with you from the very beginning. Your needs and aspirations for recovery guide my approach, and I offer flexible options for both in-office and virtual appointments to ensure your comfort. Together, we can create a personalized plan that resonates with your experiences, and I'll be there to check in regularly, empowering you with positive coping mechanisms that foster personal growth and self-esteem. Fueled by my passion for caring for others, I cherish the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life. Each session is more than just a step toward better mental health; it's a chance for connection and shared learning. Together, we can navigate life's complexities and work toward a brighter, more fulfilling future. Remember, our health is our wealth, and I am honored to accompany you on your journey to wellness and resilience.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Navigating mental health is a unique and personal journey, and it's important to remember that progress looks different for everyone. Be kind and patient with yourself as you move forward on this path. You are not alone in this journey; I am here to support and encourage you every step of the way. My approach to patient care is to let you lead the conversation. I see myself as your ally, quietly riding alongside you on this short (or long) drive. Open and honest communication is essential in our relationship. I want you to feel comfortable sharing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a nonjudgmental environment. Your openness will help me better understand how to assist you. I also recognize that this comfort takes time, so I will be patient and respectful throughout the process. Please note that all patients will be seen virtually and must reside in Massachusetts at the time of the visit.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Maneuvering through this diagnostic process can sometimes feel overwhelming, but I'm here to support you every step of the way. I create a warm, comfortable, approachable, and private environment to help put you at ease. I gather a detailed history of your presenting problem, including any previous psychiatric and medical diagnoses and hospitalization history, as well as your social and substance use history. I conduct a mental status exam and perform screenings for depression and anxiety. If a diagnosis has not been established, I will formulate one and collaborate with you to create a treatment plan. Each session includes talk therapy, and I will prescribe medication if necessary, along with a follow-up plan. Let's work together to explore your experiences and needs collaboratively.
