Dr. Oweis is hands down the most kind, thoughtful and thorough doctor I've had in my adult life. She really cares for her patients and treats them with humanity. I had grown so accustomed to the cold indifference of most of my physicians that I practically wanted to cry after I left my appointment. She listened to me, really listened, and ordered a battery of tests, three of which were done the same day. Everyone on staff there is spectacular. The place is overflowing with a spirit of care I've never been on the receiving end of before. There's a family feeling at Columbus Medical Arts. It's visible among the staff as well as the patients I chatted with while there--and you're made to feel welcome into that family immediately.

Before being seen by Dr. Oweis, patients need to contact their insurance company and request switching their Primary Care Provider prior to the appointment or be ready to switch PCP while in the office before being seen by Dr. Oweis. Note that this can only be done during normal business hours, 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Patients with appointments after 5 pm will need to have their PCP switched prior to coming to their scheduled appointment.
Dr. Julia Oweis is a Board Certified Internal Medicine physician with over 25 years of experience. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from St. George's University School of Medicine. Dr. Oweis is now part of the Comprehensive Medical Arts Group, serving patients at three locations across New York City. Patients scheduling appointments with Dr. Oweis can receive comprehensive care for acute and chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep disturbances, and more. She sees patients aged 19 and older for annual health examinations, general consultations, preventive medicine, and disease screening.

This is the second year I've gone to this practice for an easy, annual visit. I chose it because it was close to my house and convenient during the work day. I've now been wrong two years in a row... the doctor never showed up. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment and I left almost 2 hours later. They told me she is always late. They rescheduled me with a PA who took everything I said as an "issue" and tried to refer me to 3 specialists. Not what I was asking about. Very, very disappointed that I didn't get to see the MD and even ask the basic questions I had from this year to last. Will NOT go back again.

The doctor had a dog in the exam room; I was not informed it would be there or asked if it would be an issue. During the exam, she shoved her hand down the back of my shirt without warning (to listen to my lungs, sure, but it's still highly unpleasant to be manhandled). I asked multiple times about whether I should get a diagnostic test and didn't receive a clear answer. She wasn't rude about my asexuality but she wasn't informed about it either.
I got an ECG here and the assistant didn't seem to know what they were doing - took 5 tries to get the tabs placed correctly. They also moved my bra up a LOT in a way that made me feel unsafe and I cried about after.
I understand that medical care often involves being seen and touched by strangers in ways that are uncomfortable, but it takes two minutes to explain what you're doing & why and to confirm consent. Here I felt like a body they had to process, not a person.
The receptionists however were excellent, especially the downstairs one.

Dr. Oweis arrived in the office an hour after the time of my appointment, with her dog in tow, and spent some getting the dog settled and asking the staff to find her glasses and computer before she could get started. Her style is more chaotic than I was looking for; it was probably the most non-linear new-patient interview I've ever had. I'm sure she knows her stuff, but this is not the style of primary care physician I'm looking for. The dog was cute, though.
