Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
10323 Santa Monica, Los Angeles, CA
If you've felt rushed through appointments or unheard by past providers, my goal is the opposite: careful listening, a clear plan, and real follow-through. I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Century City Psychiatry, where I care for adults dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, sleep problems, and substance use. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked as an inpatient psychiatric nurse caring for high-acuity patients. That experience taught me to stay calm and thorough when things are complicated, and it shapes how I practice today. I'm comfortable working with people who have tried several medications without relief, who are managing more than one condition at once, or who are dealing with substance use alongside anxiety or depression. My approach is collaborative. I take time to understand your history, your goals, and what has or hasn't worked before. We build a plan together, which usually combines careful medication management with practical tools from CBT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. I follow up closely and adjust as we go. Our team is clinically led by Dr. Mike Mah, a board-certified psychiatrist, and treatment plans are reviewed with his oversight. I see patients in person in Century City and by telehealth throughout California. I look forward to working with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Here's what to expect when you start care with me: Before your first visit: You'll receive intake forms by email or text after booking. Please complete them at least 48 hours before your appointment. I review your history ahead of time so we can use our visit well, and visits without completed forms may need to be rescheduled. Our team also verifies your insurance benefits before your first appointment so there are no surprises. Your first appointment: This is a longer, in-depth evaluation. We'll talk about what brings you in, your history, past treatments, and your goals. By the end, you'll leave with a clear initial plan, whether that's starting or adjusting medication, practical tools to begin using, or both. Follow-up visits: Follow-ups are 25-minute appointments, not quick 10-minute medication checks. We'll go through what's improved, what hasn't, and anything new that's come up, and we'll actively work on it. That often includes therapy alongside medication management, so you're building skills, not just adjusting doses. Early on we'll meet more often, then space visits out as things stabilize. My style: I'm direct but warm. I'll explain my reasoning, give you options, and make decisions with you, not for you. If something isn't working, I want to hear it. Good to know: Visits are available in person in Century City or by telehealth anywhere in California. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 business hours' notice so we can offer the time to another patient.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You're more than a diagnosis, and your treatment should reflect that. Each session starts with you. We'll check in on how things have actually been since we last met: mood, sleep, focus, stress, relationships, and anything that's come up. We'll also review how your medication is working, including any side effects, so we can make adjustments based on what you're actually experiencing, not guesswork. From there, we focus on what matters most to you that day. Depending on your needs, that may include: - Medication management: choosing, adjusting, or simplifying medications with a clear explanation of the why behind each change - CBT tools to catch and shift the thought patterns that keep anxiety or depression going - Mindfulness-based skills to manage stress and stay grounded - Motivational interviewing when you're working on change, including around alcohol or substance use - Compassion-focused work for anyone who tends to be hard on themselves - Psychoeducation, so you understand what's happening in your brain and body and why your treatment plan makes sense We close each visit with a clear next step, whether that's a medication change, a skill to practice, or something to track before we meet again. My goal isn't just to get you feeling better for now. It's to help you understand yourself, build skills that last, and feel like an active partner in your own care.

Quality psychiatric care shouldn't mean going out of network. I'm in-network with most major insurance plans, so you can get thorough, unhurried care using the coverage you already have. Insurance accepted: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross (including WGA, DGA, MPIHP/IATSE, and UC SHIP), Blue Shield of California, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna/Evernorth, Medicare, MultiPlan/PHCS, TRICARE/TriWest, and UnitedHealthcare. Before your first visit: Our team verifies your benefits ahead of time and lets you know what to expect, so there are no surprises. You're responsible for any copay, coinsurance, or deductible under your plan. UC SHIP members (UCLA students): Your plan requires a referral from UCLA CAPS before your first visit. Please have your CAPS referral number ready when booking. Without it, your visit may not be covered. No insurance or prefer to self-pay? Self-pay rates are listed above.
