More about Dr. Julie Leigh, MD
Dr. Leigh was born in Moscow, Russia, and came to the United States in 1987. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Maryland with degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics, she completed medical school at Johns Hopkins University. Next, she received training in ophthalmology at the University of Illinois at Chicago residency program. Finally, she went on to the Proctor Foundation at the University of California, San Francisco to obtain further subspecialty training in uveitis, cornea and external disease. In the summer of 2007 she returned to the Washington, D.C. area to join the staff of Northern Virginia Center for Eye Care. She now lives in Washington DC with her husband and three daughters.
Dr. Leigh provides care in her specialty, uveitis (inflammatory diseases of the eye), as well as in general ophthalmology, including routine eye examinations, diabetic examinations, glaucoma evaluations, and cataract surgery. In addition to her practice, she also volunteers at the Lions Eye Clinic at Fairfax Hospital. Dr. Leigh is fluent in Russian and Spanish.

The doctor is amazing, but her front desk staff are unethical and unprofessional.
I asked the front desk staff if I had a co-pay prior to my appointment, they told me no.
Get to my appointment today; sure enough I had one
The front desk person went on to disrespectful school me on insurance law - lol; yes, it made me laugh.
The issue is, they were outside of my network, hence the reason I had a co-pay.
Good doctor; terrible staff!

Dr. Leigh was very thorough with the consultation. Her follow up to my questions and concerns were clear and detailed. I enjoyed the fact that she offered several alternatives and additional recommendations and not a predetermined solution.
Additionally, she was also aware of the challenges and long lead times in getting an appointment and offered an apology. Something that is a rarity that a doctor would be that understands of patient’s time as well. I attribute the long lead time as a testament to how great of a doctor she is, and why her schedule is always full.
