About Dr. Kaelan Black

Dr. Black is a fellowship trained pediatric otolaryngologist. She received an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. She then went on to do a Masters of Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University and continued from there to the Georgetown University School of Medicine for her medical degree. Dr. Black completed her otolaryngology training at the University of South Florida School of Medicine in Tampa, Florida and returned the DC metro area for her pediatric otolaryngology fellowship. Here she focused on diagnosis and treatment of complex pediatric airway anomalies, head and neck masses, ear surgery, and sinus surgery. Dr. Black has always had an interest in sleep apnea and after graduation joined a multidisciplinary group of providers that focus on treating airway obstruction and sleep apnea in children. After experiencing feeding problems with her own children, Dr. Black has also developed her knowledge and training in oral tethers and tongue tie and hopes to improve these experiences for other families in need. Dr. Black grew up in Northern Virginia and enjoys being close to her family. She likes to spend her free time outside hiking, running, or just enjoying the sunshine. She also enjoys baking with her children and watching movies when the weather is not right for outdoor activities.

Doctor was amazing with my kid. She explained to my daughter what was going to happen clearly but was also funny and engaging. I can definitely tell she works with kids because she had a wonderful sense of humor that all kids would love, but was gentle and warm when my kid said she was nervous and scared. The doctor also believed everything I said, which was so reassuring. I definitely recommend her to any parent with a kid who needs to go to the ENT.
