Dr. Kamil W. Nowicki is an endovascular neurosurgeon and physician-scientist. He is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. After receiving his combined MD-PhD from the University of Florida, he completed neurosurgery residency at UPMC with one year of enfolded endovascular fellowship. He then completed an additional endovascular fellowship at Yale – New Haven Hospital. He is passionate about studying the pathophysiology of cerebrovascular disease. He has been active in the lab exploring inflammation in cerebral aneurysms. He was awarded the Academy Award from the American Academy of Neurological Surgery in 2023 and Best Basic Science – Cerebrovascular Award from the Congress of Neurological Surgeons in 2019. His work has been funded by both the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the NSF (National Science Foundation), and has resulted in several innovations. His goal is to bring quality care and the results of breakthrough translational research to future patients and their families. In addition to his subspeciality interests in endovascular and cerebrovascular neurosurgery, his clinical interests also include general, trauma, tumor, and spine neurosurgery. In his free time, Dr. Nowicki enjoys CrossFit, playing soccer, and rock-climbing. He also enjoys photography.
