About Dr. Kara Nance
In an era of volume driven care where patients often find themselves shuffled from specialist to specialist, Dr. Nance and her team at WellessenceMD are breaking the mold by providing personalized, comprehensive, evidenced based, compassionate health care. After graduating with honors from Princeton University, Dr. Nance finished second in her class from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and completed her internal medicine residency training at the University of Chicago. She practiced primary care for eight years before starting to study obesity medicine because of the significant increase in diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol she was seeing in her patients. After passing the American Board of Obesity medicine exam in 2012, Dr. Nance started offering weight management and nutrition services in addition to high quality primary care. Dr. Nance uses the latest blood tests to determine the risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes in her patients. She then customizes wellness plans to help each patient achieve their healthiest self, and supports them throughout their journey. In addition to providing high quality primary care and nutritional services, Dr. Nance is also certified to provide Mindfulness Based Interventions from the University of Massachusetts Center for Mindfulness to help patients living with chronic pain, cravings and addictions, anxiety, depression, and other chronic medical issues. Dr. Nance prides herself on addressing everything that feeds into a patient’s overall well being, resulting in a truly patient centered health care experience.
