About Karen Duarte
Karen Duarte is a board-certified physician assistant. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the New Jersey State Society of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
Karen earned her undergraduate degree at Rutgers University and completed her Master's in Physician Assistant Studies at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She provides quality care for all patients, from infants to the elderly. Karen is extensively trained in injectables, lasers, and many different cosmetic procedures that can help minimize wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and acne scarring.
When not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children.

Very satisfied with this dermatology practice. Office staff is professional and friendly, and wait time was under 5 minutes. Karen Duarte is very knowledgeable and professional; she explained in clear language what she believed the diagnosis to be and the treatments plans. I highly recommend.

I’ve been going to Metropolitan dermatology for a few years now. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The doctors and PAs are extremely professional, well spoken, and attentive to your needs.

My initial visit to the office and PA was fine, no complaints! (Went on a Monday). Was told I would get a follow up call on Thursday to go over progress of my “diagnosis” and see if symptoms are getting better ( was prescribed steroid cream). Thursday came and went, DID NOT RECEIVE A FOLLOW UP CALL. (Left a detailed voicemail about worsening symptoms on Thursday.) Called again Friday, and spoke to someone who said her “computer was on the fritz and I would get a call back once her computer was working.” (I get it, technology. But there were SEVERAL computers at the office, can’t you use another one???)
Received a call back a couple hours later asking if “anyone got back to me” and when I said “no” & asked if I could be helped for worsening symptoms, I was told “there was no one in the office because the office was closed”! Totally unacceptable and I’m extremely frustrated!!! Especially because the reason I went in for an appointment is getting worse and keeping me up at night!!!!

Overall a very positive experience. Karen Duarte was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I thought her examination was thorough. Office staff were all very nice and the wait time was less than 15 min.
My only criticism is the numerous reminders I received prior to my visit. It went beyond ridiculous. I lost count of how many texts and e mails I received reminding me of the appointment. There is no reason the that.
