About Dr. Karl Petrie
Dr. Karl Petrie is from Toronto, Canada. He is a graduate of York University in Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts degree with his disciplines being Kinesiology and Urban Development. Upon graduation he moved to Chicago, Illinois to attend The National University of Health Sciences (N.U.H.S.). While at N.U.H.S. he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree with a focus in human biology and his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. During that time he also earned his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist credentials from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as his Certified Golf Fitness Instruction certificate from the Golf Institute.
Upon graduation from N.U.H.S. he moved to Radford, Virginia to start a clinic on the Radford University campus and also work with the University as an assistant strength and conditioning coach and eventually ice hockey coach during the 2004 season.
While submersed in his education he also enjoyed helping people of all fitness levels with their fitness/ athletic/ conditioning goals. He has designed programs, helped manage nutritional needs, worked one on one and in groups with many aspiring to get healthier and feel better. He has also helped people with special circumstances such as fibromyalgia patients, establish and execute exercise programs that help them achieve a better quality of life. He has worked with athletes of all levels and helped them improve their conditioning and essentially their sports performance. His knowledge and love of health and fitness has allowed him to help many reach their goals, whatever they may be!
When injuries do occur Dr Petrie utilizes his strong educational background as well as his extensive athletic background in hockey and football to get people on the right path to health. His own history allows him a great understanding of the desire that athletes and weekend warriors have to get back on the field and to not let injuries inhibit performance. I was looking forward to my appointment with Dr. Petrie after reading excellent reviews. However, I cannot in good conscience recommend seeking treatment from this practice.
The receptionist asked me what brought in. I told her I was experiencing neck and shoulder pain that started a few weeks ago. She asked, "And you waited until just now to come?" I clarified that I sought NSAID and massage treatment first, but why should I even have to clarify?
I went to the back and met with the DC, who was clearly not who I had scheduled with. Totally fine to see another doctor, but I would've liked a heads up. I mentioned I was a veterinarian, and he proceeded to talk about his cats and their medical issues for 15 minutes. We spent more time discussing his cats than discussing why I was there in the office for my appointment. I can't imagine taking up my client's scheduled time to discuss my own issues. Essentially, I paid this practice just to get criticized and to talk about cats. Ridiculous.

Dr. Petrie can fix a variety of ailments with treatments and new exercises. I have had an achilles, knee, and shoulder work done. In no case was surgery ever recommended. He always tries the simple fix first. I am 68 years old and still able to jog and lift weights thanks to Dr. Petrie.
