Getting to know Dr. Kelly Huffman

I have been in medicine and practicing in one capacity or another since 1998 with my BS in Communications from Arizona State University, my BSN from Mt. St. Mary's College in Los Angeles, California, my ARNP at Northern Illinois University, my PMHNP from Maryville University, and my Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Abilene Christian University. I am board certified in adult and geriatric primary care medicine and in psychiatry and mental health for all ages. During time studying, I worked in many roles as a nurse and as a provider since 2014 focusing on individuals of all ages in internal medicine and mental health. I continue to work to bring comfort, sound reasoning, and care to all individuals needing mental health support. I strive to dedicate myself with compassion and empathy to each patient while meeting them right where they are every time. It is often hard to seek help but much easier when you are not judged. Each one of us has a story, let me help you in yours with kindness, understanding, and without judgement!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take my time getting to know each patient and work with them to develop a plan that works in their life. I feel it is very important for each patient to feel heard and not judged!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I use the initial visit to gather as much information as possible including the use of multiple screening tools whether it is depression, anxiety, trauma, or another disease process. This initial evaluation is usually 1 hour to 1.5 hours long. Each follow-up visit is shorter but allows time for talk therapy and other supportive measures along with medication management.

Kelly Huffman, APRN, DNP was very attentive to my needs and listened to my concerns. She was prompt and profssional. When she answered questions I had, she used terms that I could understand. My visit ended with me being satisfied and my mind at ease.
Dr. Huffman absolutely deserves more than five stars! From the moment I walked in, she truly listened to all of my concerns and never once made me feel rushed. She took her time, explained everything clearly, and treated me like a person, not just another paycheck. Her kindness and genuine care really stood out and made me feel completely comfortable.
