What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your initial appointment is a comprehensive in person psychiatric evaluation focused on understanding your personal history, current concerns, and treatment goals. Dr. Krause views this first visit as the beginning of a collaborative partnership and prioritizes open communication in a safe, supportive environment where you can feel heard. For some patients, a second evaluation may be recommended.
During your visit, you can expect to discuss:

• Comprehensive History: A detailed review of your mental health and medical background, including prior treatments, family history, and lifestyle factors such as sleep and nutrition
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
• Medication List: Please bring a complete list of all current medications, including dosages, over the counter medications, vitamins, and supplements
• Past Records: If available, bring prior psychiatric or relevant medical records to support continuity of care. If you do not have these records, our office can provide a Release of Information (ROI) form to request them from previous providers
• Your Goals: Consider what “feeling better” would look like for you so Dr. Krause can tailor treatment to your personal goals and priorities
What is your typical process for working with clients?
The first goal is to evaluate the patient's emotional state and reasons for seeking treatment. The initial treatment plan is discussed and updated as needed. Medications are reviewed as it is a necessity for optimal continued psychiatric care. At the first meeting checklists and scales are frequently provided to gather more information about the process and the various symptoms that help with diagnosis. However, the process is flexible enough to allow the most pressing issues and concerns to be addressed.
The treatment approach is determined by the needs, goals and preferences of the patient. Most patients come to treatment for expert medication management which often leads to counseling to understand the whole person. Some patients see Dr. Krause for psychotherapy and medication management. Psychotherapy includes a combination of supportive problem solving , eclectic and insight oriented methods.

If you are uninsured the fees for appointments are as follows: Initial appointment $180, Psychotherapy 40-minute appointment $120 and a medication management appointment is $80. If you have concerns about the billing or your insurance coverage, we first recommend reaching out to your insurer to go over your plan specifics such as your deductible, out of pocket maximum and copays. Then from there please do not hesitate to reach out to us for any additional concerns. Ultimately every plan is different and nothing is guaranteed subject to the plans provisions at the date in which the claim was processed and paid for by insurance.

Dr Krause has always been an caring person 1st and foremost. He has been objective and professional with my personal difficulties. I always looked forward to what he thought and had to say regarding the issues I trusted him with. When I left our appointment I always felt better after our visits. I, in fact,was better and had a practical game plan for the issues I was struggling with.

I admire my Doctor Krause. I have been seeing him for 20 yrs. He always listens to me and we have meaningful conversation. He has soft gentle speech and always have a welcoming smile which immediately calms my spirit. His office is full of plants and flowers and I feel like I'm in a garden.
