During your visit, you can expect to discuss: • Your Journey: What prompted you to seek care and how symptoms are affecting your daily life, work, and relationships • Comprehensive History: A detailed review of your mental health and medical background, including prior treatments, family history, and lifestyle factors such as sleep and nutrition How to Prepare for Your Appointment • Medication List: Please bring a complete list of all current medications, including dosages, over the counter medications, vitamins, and supplements • Past Records: If available, bring prior psychiatric or relevant medical records to support continuity of care. If you do not have these records, our office can provide a Release of Information (ROI) form to request them from previous providers • Your Goals: Consider what “feeling better” would look like for you so Dr. Krause can tailor treatment to your personal goals and priorities

The first goal is to evaluate the patient's emotional state and reasons for seeking treatment. The initial treatment plan is discussed and updated as needed. Medications are reviewed as it is a necessity for optimal continued psychiatric care. At the first meeting checklists and scales are frequently provided to gather more information about the process and the various symptoms that help with diagnosis. However, the process is flexible enough to allow the most pressing issues and concerns to be addressed. The treatment approach is determined by the needs, goals and preferences of the patient. Most patients come to treatment for expert medication management which often leads to counseling to understand the whole person. Some patients see Dr. Krause for psychotherapy and medication management. Psychotherapy includes a combination of supportive problem solving , eclectic and insight oriented methods.
