About Dr. Khoa Tran
Dr. Khoa Tran, M.D. is a co-founder of Dermatology Center of Loudoun and a full-time laser specialist. He received his medical degree at New York Medical College in 1999 and completed his residency training in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Tran continued as a clinical instructor of medicine at Thomas Jefferson Medical College and taught hospital medicine at the Lankenau Hospital, outside Philadelphia, for four years. Upon moving back to northern Virginia, he practiced at INOVA Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, VA, prior to joining Dermatology Center of Loudoun.
Dr. Tran is board-certified in internal medicine and has received specialized training and certification in laser medicine. He is a member of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. His major interests include ablative and non-ablative laser treatments for cosmetic and medical benefit, as well as combination laser and topical protocols to enhance clinical outcomes. He has enjoyed a great following in the community for his evidence-based approach to laser medicine and eagerness to educate patients about laser procedures, along with other modalities available to them at DCL. Dr. Tran performs every cosmetic consultation, treatment, and follow-up visit himself.
Dr. Tran is an avid road cyclist and runner; he also enjoys skiing, golf, tennis, and travel with his family.

This wasn't my first visit with Dr. Tran, but I noticed that he does interrupt the patient quite often. It can be somewhat frustrating from the patient's perspective, especially if they're not familiar with him. Again, having seen him before he may be overly-eager to assist, but the result is a somewhat unstructured bedside manner.
He also asked me my thoughts about the practice's website, which was rather off-topic, but I appreciated the solicitated input because I found the site lacking.

I got burned and had blisters around my nose and lips. I went there to treat not to get damage. He said this common but for my skin condition that any damages can lead to depigmentation , would be a huge damage. He guaranteed that the burned areas would get worse and give my money back if I see any changes. In my opinion my skin can not distinguish between a good damages or bad . It will react the same.

I see Dr. Tran twice a week and Dr. Kahn every 2 months. I love both of them - very personable and professional! I am so much better now that I have started the laser therapies for my psoriasis on my feet and hands. I highly recommend this therapy, especially if you have failed biologics or don't want to risk taking them.

I was very disappointed in the results from the IPL treatment by Dr. Tran. Prior to the treatment he said the treatment might not get the whole dark spot due to the way the IPL light hit it. I understood that and was fine with that. Unfortunately, the treatment did not remove any part of the dark spots. There was zero result from the IPL, no flaking or darkening. Dr. Tran said the first IPL was a test on setting the machine correctly and he could get the setting correct the next time. In my pre-appointment he did recommend three treatments but he did not mention that the first treatment was merely to get the correct setting on the IPL machine.

Very caring and thorough. Gave me some sunscreen samples after my visit. Immediate satisfaction with how quickly the red veins on my face disappeared! Now I can go out of the house without applying foundation!

Doctor Tran has great bedside manners, he listens and asks questions to make sure that the treatment meets my expectations. He is also very flexible, e.g. I came for a vein treatment and also asked him to squeeze in a hair removal treatment, which he did.

This is my second time in this doctors office. I am impressed how clean and new it is. The staffs are so friendly. After my first visit with Dr. Tran, almost all the dark spots on my face are gone. Dr. Tran is really helpful and kind. He provides the best care, good advice, and the best treatment to his patient. Thank you Dr. Tran.
