“Beautiful office, friendly and respectful staff, but most importantly, Dr. Khan is EXCELLENT. He was so compassionate and clear. There was a scheduling miscommunication and I have to be referred to a different doctor, so he transferred the credit from our appointment to a different service I needed, so that I wouldn’t have to double pay. What an incredibly kind man.”

About Dr. Khurrum Khan

Since I was a child, I have been intrigued by the cardiovascular system. When I learned the basic sciences in medical school, I felt I had an innate understanding of it. As I progressed in clinical rotations, I enjoyed connecting with patients but also wanted to interpret studies and perform procedures. During my first year of internal medicine residency, while rotating through the CCU, I fully embraced my passion for cardiology. I liked the breadth of cases and understanding the physiology of the heart and vascular system in critically ill patients. Cardiology also drew me because it embraces technology in patient management and has a robust evidence base for treatment plans. I have been fortunate to complete most of my medical education and training in my hometown, Houston. I earned my Doctor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, where I also completed my residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in General Cardiology. Additionally, I completed a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center. While in the CCU and on the cardiology consult service at Ben Taub General Hospital, I cared for patients with common conditions like acute coronary syndrome and less common ones such as irreparable mitral valve damage from rheumatic heart disease due to lack of regular healthcare access. On the cardiology consult service at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, I experienced private practice and cared for patients with advanced heart failure, valvular disease, and heart transplants. At the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, I had the privilege to care for veterans with all aspects of cardiovascular pathology. In clinic, I enjoyed discussing the etiology and management of cardiac disease with patients and their families.
