More about Dr. Laura Anders, MD

Let me tell you a little bit about my practice. I work business hours M-F and Saturday mornings. I'm not on any insurance panels so the fee is out of pocket. If you have a PPO you can apply for out of network reimbursement. Please arrive 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork. My biggest strength as a clinician is how I interact with patients. In my 13+ years of practice, I’ve developed a caring and supportive approach that allows patients to be at ease during sessions. I treat patients with kindness and respect and am truly interested their stories and feelings. An old fashioned treatment approach is for the psychiatrist to be neutral and not show emotion towards the patient. I believe this is outdated and can actually cause harm in some patients. In my office you will find a friendly, warm environment. As a general psychiatrist, I treat most psychiatric syndromes and I have a clinical interest in anxiety disorders, mood disorders and ADHD. I provide medication management by itself or in the course of psychotherapy. I also provide medication for patients who already have a therapist. In this situation, the therapist and I coordinate care to make sure we are in agreement and support of the treatment plan.

I have been seeing Dr. Anders for almost 2 years for my OCD. Dr. Anders was able to get it under control so I can have a life again. I would highly recommend her to anyone. Very prompt appt. times, always professional but she is very comfortable being around, easy to talk to.
Dr. Anders is incredible! She truly cares about her patients and knows exactly what I need to feel healthy. Every appointment is fun, helpful, and hopeful - and I know Dr. Anders will be there every step of the way as I become healthy.
Excelent as usual.
It was very helpful and I really felt like Laura heard me and understands how I am feeling. She is a great doctor who always has the well-being of her patients in mind.
I was a patient of Dr. Anders for several years. I initially presented with severe anxiety and depression, as well as insomnia. I had suffered with these issues since childhood, and had seen other psychiatrists off and on for 30 years. I was seeing another psychiatrist, with no relief from those illnesses, when I was referred to Dr. Anders by a colleague. At our initial appointment, Dr. Anders assessed my medication and history. She quickly determined that the medications I had currently and previously been prescribed were completely incompatible for me. We began medication trials to find something that worked for me. Changing prescriptions can be a dangerous time for someone deeply depressed, so Dr. Anders increased contact with me to assure the medication was working. After finding something that alleviated the symptoms for depression and anxiety, she then addressed the problem of insomnia. She informed me that this could be exacerbating my symptoms. Finding a medication for the insomnia that I had had for over 40 years took many different attempts. When I had seen previous psychiatrists, I had been given one or two of the default prescriptions, and when those didn’t cause my insomnia to abate, I was not given other options. Dr. Anders continued to suggest medications until we found one that caused the insomnia to completely go away. This was a time-consuming process, but Dr. Anders was attentive in finding the correct medication. To any potential new patient, this is what I would like you to know about Dr. Anders: • She is tireless in finding the correct medications for each patient • She is accessible in moments of emergency • She listens to her patients so she truly understands the problem • She accommodated my schedule for appointments • She is vigilant during times that are difficult for someone with depression Dr. Anders genuinely cares about her patients, and is extremely professional. Being a patient of hers was a life-changing experience. I am now able to experience life without the heavy cloud of depression and anxiety, and can actually sleep for the first time in years! I cannot recommend her highly enough.
