About Lindsay Carleton

Lindsay graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master's degree in Midwifery from Columbia School of Nursing. She started her midwifery career at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where she spent three years specializing in adolescent pregnancy and running Centering Pregnancy groups, in addition to attending to women in labor and assisting with births. Lindsay then practiced at Woodhull Medical Center for four years, where she was awarded the 2017 Outstanding Preceptor Award from the American College of Nurse Midwives for her work with midwifery students. Lindsay loves her work in midwifery and is honored to support women as they transition to motherhood.

If I could give Lindsay 10 stars I would. She was so warm and kind and comforting. A complete 180 from my last experience at another facility. She calmly walked me through every step and comforted me, listened to all my concerns and reassured me so much. I never had such a kind and caring provider that was so warm and welcoming.

Having anxiety is really difficult when seeing a new doctor for me. Lindsey Carleton had such wonderful bedside manner. I shared my concerns with her regarding previous trauma I experienced at a OBGYN. She not only validated my feelings, sharing her knowledge and experience, and going over a step by step plan for when I have exams. Very communicative about what she’s about to do and is reassuring along the way. I appreciate the office staff and their positive attitudes and clarity regarding policies and procedures. Thank you!

Despite some wait time due to a very busy day at this office (I’ve had a much longer wait elsewhere!) I would highly recommend Lindsay! Lindsay was so nice, informative, asked a lot of important questions and carefully listened to all of mine. She took extra care looking into my past diagnosis and then took extra time following up on them. I’m so happy I found Lindsay in my extensive search for a new provider and couldn’t have felt more at ease and comfortable!

I say this with the utmost sincerity: my appointments with Lindsay Carleton have consistently been the most reassuring medical experiences I've ever had. She is kind, understanding, compassionate, communicative, and patient. And funny! She has always made me feel extremely comfortable and gives space for me to harp on my anxieties and concerns without judgment. It's difficult to find a doctor who is proficient and treats you with respect, but Lindsay, like, is just a good dude and a good midwife.

The parking at the office is HORRENDOUS! If you do make an appointment, avoid M & Thu between 11:30 am - 1:00 pm because that’s then they do street sweeping and there is NO parking.

Doctor was great, she answered all of my questions and was very pleasant and knowledgeable.
The only huge downside is the wait time - it took 55 mins wait to do an ultrasound, another 35 mins to get a blood work done, etc. my appt was at 3.30 pm, I left the office after 6.20 pm, even though I needed only an ultrasound, blood draw and a quick exam/consult with doctor. Out of 3 hours total spent there, the waittime was close to 2,5 hrs.

Although the front desk agent wasn’t the best, once i was examined and had time to speak with her, she was very empathetic to my issues, took the time to listen to me, had lots of questions and placed emphasis on everything I needed and i do in order to alleviate the pain o was experiencing.

Dr. Carleton was exactly the doctor I hoped to meet. She is kind, reassuring and non-judgemental. I got the feeling that she trusted my knowledge of my body as much as her own expertise: nothing about our conversation was condescending or pretentious. During the physical examination, Dr. Carleton was really tender and made quite sure not to startle or surprise me. She was descriptive in her observations beyond just "everything looks good" and gave me preventative care advice that felt right for me. Above all, she treated me like an equal, which is the kind of care I was hoping to receive. Less magnanimous were the office's receptionist and nurse who were both quite cold and not nearly as welcoming. Also, the office could really use an interior makeover, particularly that wallpaper ;)
