Getting to know Dr. Malia Kent
Hello, my name is Dr. Malia Kent and I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I went on to school to receive my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. I practice across all age groups. I am compassionate in my work and practice shared-decision making with my patients. I started my medical career in 2007 as a paramedic. I advanced my education to nursing where I worked in the emergency department then psychiatry. I felt that mental health was my niche. Then I went back to school to continue my Master’s in advanced practice nursing. I am focused on providing the best mental healthcare and reducing the stigma.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I work closely with my clients to encourage regular follow ups to keep treatment on track. I am a down-to-earth provider and want to empower my patients to make the best choice for their care.
There will be a $75 fee incurred if cancelled/no show within 24 hours.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Once an appointment is booked, you will be asked to fill out consent forms. Then an email will be sent to you from East Coast Mental Health with instructions for intake papers and a telehealth link where we can start our session. I am present for every encounter both physically and mentally. I am here to help by creating an individualized treatment plan tailored to you.
