About Dr. Marcella Garner
MGM Medical Center is the first Black-Owned, Mother-Daughter Medical Center in Essex County, New Jersey. Due to high demand for appointments, we have a stringent no-show policy. Our focus is Primary Care, preventive screening, and management of chronic diseases. Our office offers routine check-ups, in-office labs, electrocardiograms (EKGs), electronic medical records, and electronic prescribing. We warmly welcome the LGBTQ+ community. Founded by Dr. Maleka Robinson DNP, AGNP-BC, MSN, BSN (Mother) and Dr. Marcella Garner DNP, FNP, CCRN (Daughter), both graduates of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, with Doctorates in Family Nursing. Together, we bring over 20 years of acute hospital care experience, giving us the expertise to meet your healthcare needs.

The office and Dr. Gardner are phenomenal. I went there twice, once for my annual physical and the second time to follow up with my bloodwork.
They call you on time. I literally was sen in less than 5 minutes from my scheduled time both times. That has never happened since I have had doctors appointments in 3 different states.
The decor is great, the music is a vibe, nice and mellow not the boring, droning office music.
Dr. Gardner is knowledgeable, personable and the best type of person you would talk to, like your sister, cousin or your auntie. I also was introduced to her mom, and she is great! She even does medical missions with a black dentist from Irvington.
Dr. Gardner went over my bloodwork in detail, not just the numbers that might show a concern but those that were good other doctors would just ignore. She offered natural ways to improve numbers that weren’t life threatening but concerning, as opposed to automatically prescribing medication. Bring everyone you know!

From Beginning to end, the office staff from assisting with filling out paperwork to my visit with the Dr. Garner was amazing. The office setup is very welcoming and clean. Dr. was very detailed oriented and it felt like I have known her for years. She made sure she answered any questions that I had and gave me great suggestions on maintaining my overall health. I am looking forward to Dr. Garner being my new primary doctor. :)

By far the absolute I thought it was impossible to find a doctor that listens to their patients and addresses all needs and concerns it doesn’t make the patient feel rushed or hurried but nothing is impossible. I found all of that with her and then some couldn’t have chosen a better primary care dr to oversee my health she comes highly recommended !!!

The staff were friendly. The office was nice, airy, and clean. The ambiance was calming. I didn’t wait long for my appointment. My questions, and concerns were listened to intently and addressed. It really gave the impression that we are working together regarding my health. The only thing I would improve upon was the phlebotomist, she didn’t wear gloves nor did I see her sanitize her hands prior to my arrival. She could have, I however, didn’t see it. She would wipe the injection site with an alcohol wipe then touch the site with her bare hands. She would open packages then touch the site with her bare hand. Never sanitizing her hand in between her touching multiple items. She was friendly and very pleasant but definitely guilty of cross contamination. Also when she gave me my adhesive bandage, she completely opened the package then touched with her bare fingers the portion that would touch my injection site.That was my only major issue.

The greatest experience I’ve ever had with a doctor! I love how family oriented that they are. Also that they have a lab in house is so convenient! I was listened to, not shamed for body/weight, and given incredible advice, support, and insight!

My overall experience was wonderful. Truly speaks to how important representation is in medicine. Dr. Garner was wonderful to talk to and listened to me very intentionally when I was explaining my concerns. All the other women in the office were wonderful to speak with and we're very kind. So glad I found this office and a new PCP.

I had a wonderful experience and to discover that they are a black owned medical facility was even sweeter. The place was pristine and the vibe was set wonderfully to the sounds of good Ol R&B. The wait process wasn’t long at all and I was seen immediately after filling out my paperwork. I was very comfortable here and have found my permanent Primary Care Physician.
