About Dr. Marcello Sammarone
Dr. Sammarone is a Fellowship Trained, Board Certified Pain Specialist dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality, and personalized care. He has more than 25 years of clinical experience, including 13 years at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston as an Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Specialist, as well as a teaching attending for the residency program.
After graduating summa cum laude from Università degli Studi G. d'Annunzio Chieti-Pescara Scuola di Medicina e Scienze della Salute in his native Italy, he came to the US and completed two residencies: Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology. He trained at prestigious institutions including Harvard and Tufts University in Boston, MA, Texas Tech University, and the State University of New York (SUNY), Upstate Medical University, where he completed fellowships in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, graduating from the Pain Management fellowship program in 1997.
Throughout his extensive career, he has received several awards and recognitions, including New Jersey Top Doctor (for six years), “Most Compassionate Doctor” Awards, and “I Love My Doctor” awards as voted by his patients at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ. His extensive experience and knowledge, combined with cutting-edge techniques and equipment, enable Dr. Sammarone to achieve the best possible results.

Dr Sammarone reviewed my last procedure with me. We discussed the next epidoral procedure and scheduled it to further help decrease my lower back pain. Dr Sammarone gave me a prescription. Dr Sammarone's bedsid manner as well as his willingness to answer questions makes office visits really pleasant, productive and helpful. Dr Sammarone takes the time at all office visits to explain the pain management procedure he is suggesting and what it will entail and to answer any questions I have. He is always easy to talk to, kind and caring. Seeing Dr Sammarone has helped over time to decrease my pain. He is a wonderful doctor.

Dr. Sammerone has been instrumental on my road to recovery. He's listened to all my concerns and symptoms and instituted a treatment plan of special injections targeting my mid and lower back where I suffer from chronic pain. I'm glad I got an appointment with him rather than opting for surgery. Over time I was able to reduce the dosages of medications which I thought was my only option. He really takes the time with me which I feel is very important. And the office team is great too!

I had to wait a little longer because I got there early to fill our paperwork so it wasn't their fault. Everyone was very polite and even apologized for the wait. Dr. Sammarone was very nice and professional as well as knowledgeable and I felt comfortable with him. I trust him with my diagnosis and procedures I may have to have. I did some research as I never went to a pain specialist before and I am happy I went to him. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
