As a board-certified family physician with many years of experience, I have come to appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of conventional medicine. Opening a blocked coronary artery or using antibiotics to cure pneumonia is a modern miracle indeed. However, more common chronic diseases do not respond as well to the conventional approach of making a diagnosis and prescribing a pharmaceutical drug. These medications may be helpful, but in many chronic health problems, they do not cure ailments or restore health. Unfortunately, the side effects of pharmaceutical treatments can reduce quality of life and even cause death. I believe there can be no limits to the search for answers to my patients' health problems. This belief has guided me in developing a personalized, integrative approach to optimal health. By using conventional medicine as a starting point and adding effective remedies from natural and nutritional medicine, I am able to provide my patients with the counsel they seek and be a more effective partner in restoring health.
After completing my undergraduate studies at Bradley University, I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois Medical School. I then completed a three-year residency in Family Medicine at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, becoming a Board Certified Family Physician. My interest in mental health led me to complete a two-year program in family and marital counseling at the Family Institute of Northwestern University. Following my residency, I worked as a physician at Rush University Medical Center's Lincoln Park office, where I remained until 2011.

Good experience but very difficult to get ahold of the office. Not a big deal when it’s just a checkup, but the voicemail box is often full and nobody returns your calls. If it was an urgent situation I would have some concerns. Otherwise Dr Marco is lovely!
