He completed his residency at The New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Medical College of Cornell University and then went on to further his education in the field Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by completing a fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. Following fellowship, Dr. Jurema accepted an academic position at Brown University Medical School as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at The Women and Infants’ Hospital in Rhode Island. There he pursued his clinical research interests and became Director of the Egg Freezing Program and Co-Director for Brown’s Donor Egg Program. Having developed and implemented the In Vitro Maturation (IVM) of Oocytes Program at Brown University, Dr. Jurema is nationally and internationally known for his technical advancements in the field of oocyte (egg) maturation, a technology that allows women’s eggs to mature outside the body. He is a nationally and internationally invited speaker who often participates in expert panels teaching professionals in the field of reproductive science. His areas of clinical expertise include assisted reproductive technologies, recurrent pregnancy loss/implantation failure, ovarian reserve issues, fertility preservation, third-party reproduction and reproductive surgery. Dr. Jurema grew up in Brazil & speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish.
