About Dr. Margaret Arnold

Margaret Arnold, MD, FACS, is the director of the MedStar Health Baltimore surgical residency program and the director of the MedStar Health Vein Centers in Baltimore. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas, San Antonio, completed her residency at University of North Carolina Hospitals, and pursued fellowship training at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Arnold is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon who is board certified in both vascular surgery and general surgery. She is experienced in both endovascular and open surgery as well as the medical management of vascular issues. While she treats all forms of vascular disease, including aortic disease and thoracic outlet syndrome, her practice primarily focuses on venous disease such as varicose veins. Dr. Arnold’s research centers on medical and surgical training and education. A strong advocate for wellness and lifestyle modifications, she integrates these principles into her curriculum when teaching residents and also counsels her patients on making such changes. Her practice is patient-centered; she takes the time to get to know her patients personally to better understand their needs and goals. She involves patients in the decision-making process, fostering greater investment in their treatment plans. This approach has proven successful in improving her patients’ quality of life. Dr. Arnold is widely published, including book chapters and peer-reviewed articles, and has presented at regional and national vascular surgery conferences. She is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Association of Women Surgeons, the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
