The doctor needs to talk to his patients and not his desk. He was a bit bored as everything seemed routine.

I have been seen this Dr. four times. The first visit he told I have acne, give me medicine that causes headaches and I couldn't be exposed to the sun and did not work. The second visit, I wait almost an hour for I can see him in the waiting room, he gives me a different medicine to take once per day, worse post symptoms and did not work! I went to Wallmart bought cream and work! without medicine. During the 3rd visit to him, I told him that the medicine wasn't working and I stop to take it. And I show him that I have a different rash that just starts a few days ago in my hip and he's diagnostic was Shingles. I took the medicine for the week. I went for that week with all the symptoms of the Shingles, the medicine work and went to see him for the 4th time and he told me it was not Shingles that was something else. I am not going back AGAIN to this doctor, the last 3 times I went there was rude and yelling when I was told him about the issue. NOW he told me that I have something else and I ask him to have a test and he told me "it's too late to take a taste??? If he wasn't sure was shingles in the begging, why he did not took a LAB Taste?? what kind that Dermatologist is this??? I went crying back home the way I was treated in his office!!!!

I am so glad I found Dr Gendleman. It is rare today that a physician will spend as much time with a patient as Dr Gendleman spent with me.

He is smart, thorough, and prompt.
Professional, personable and helpful!
Very competent doctor, treated both my kids for very persistent plantar warts, and my son for acne. He explained all very well, discussed treatment options, answered all my questions, explained thoroughly. Going back next month for status, but I feel he addressed all very aggressively, which is what we needed with both their conditions.
Verified patient
Doctor Gendelman listened to my concerns and started me on a course of treatment that is working. He was friendly and personable.

Just kinda rough and not very nice.

I had a lovely time with Dr. Gendleman and he even called a few days later to follow up with me. I would recommend him as a doctor but I can't recommend the office itself. I received a bill 2 months later from the laboratory they used which indicated that they weren't covered on my insurance. When I called the office to ask why they used a lab that wasn't on my insurance (and whether they would be willing to call the lab and negotiate the bill down, which is often done in cases like this), they told me that I should talk to their billing person and that she'd call me back. A month later, still no return call. So I called again and was told "it's not our job to know what your insurance covers, we only use that lab, and if you want us to call the lab to negotiate, then I can leave a note for our billing person but I know she won't call them." Ugh. If your lab doesn't work with the same insurance providers that your office uses, you should inform your patients about that ahead of time. And "I can leave a note but it won't do anything" is not an effective way to address that.

Dismissive, sexist, rude
Works quickly, discussed all my concerns.
The Dr was a bit rude, he did not want to listen to what I was saying, he proposed that I come back in a week (not sure why, when I was having an issue for few months!-- which is the reason of my visit) He ended up giving me a very small pomade which did not solve my issue.
I felt rushed and he was slightly rude, like he was just trying to get to the next patient. Spent most of his time writing notes and didn't really bother listening to me and my concerns about the skin. Didn't really explain what certain medications would do or offer any other viable treatment options.
He was very rude to me and to his assistant and belittled me when I said that I did not want to spend too much money on acne treatments. I could also hear him speak with another patient and he also seemed rude to that patient as well.
He was not polite or informative. When asked a question, his responses were very rushed and annoyed. He couldn't determine what my issue was, chose to give me samples of psoriasis ointment, and had me on my way. The ointment didn't help, in case you were wondering. Also, no one in the office informed me of this when I was making an appointment, but you need to pay for parking at his Evanston location. Overall, I would not recommend.
Great- gave me exactly what I needed and helped me come up with solutions for the future without having to make lots of appointments. Fast and easy, it was perfect!

He was straightforward and understanding. He is extremely knowledgeable and resourceful; highly recommended for anyone looking for actual and truthful answers, and someone who will treat you like family--supportive guy.
Everything went perfectly. The office staff were lovely, I got seen right away, Dr Gendleman was so nice and professional. I have 0 complaints and would highly, highly recommend.

Dr. Gendleman was very professional--straightforward and to the point, yet very thorough. Will definitely go back and refer him to friends and family.

I was more impressed with his assistant. But, overall the Doc addressed my concern and did give me a prescription for treatment. He was friendly and easy going. I just wanted more time with him to go over all of my symptoms. I feel like he latched on to the first thing I said and diagnosed right away without the full story. He was probably in a rush, which is understandable I suppose. He also rolled his eyes when I spoke to him about my own research on my symptoms. Messing with nature can be scary for some folks, shouldn't look down on us if we seek natural treatment alternatives.
Dr. Gendleman has been our family dermatologist for over twelve years, and he is consistently wise and careful and great at explaining things. I love that he is committed to training the next generation of dermatologists as well. That speaks so well of him.
Verified patient
Dr. Gendleman was very pleasant. Took time to see and listen to my problems. Came up with diagnosis and treatment method. I liked the way he treated me with patient and friendliness.
Verified patient
Very quick, efficient visit.
Dr. Gendleman was very patient and kind to my elderly father. This was our first visit, and he has already been very accommodating with scheduling convenient future visits. We look forward to seeing him again.
