Marrisa Montano-White, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and founder of Villa Grove Mental Wellness, offering compassionate, personalized psychiatric care through convenient virtual appointments. She welcomes patients across the lifespan, from children as young as 4 through adolescents, adults, and older adults. Marrisa specializes in psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and treatment of a wide range of mental health conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, panic disorders, mood disorders, sleep disturbances, and stress-related concerns. She understands that mental health challenges affect everyone differently and believes treatment should be individualized to each patient's needs and goals. With over 16 years of nursing experience and a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, Marrisa brings extensive clinical knowledge and a compassionate, whole-person approach to mental health care. In addition to general psychiatric care, Marrisa has a special interest in women's mental health, including fertility-related stress, pregnancy, postpartum depression and anxiety, and reproductive-related mood changes. Her background as a mother/baby nurse and IVF nurse coordinator at a renowned fertility center inspired her passion for supporting individuals through life's emotional challenges. Marrisa believes effective mental health care begins with listening, understanding, and building trust. She creates a welcoming, judgment-free environment where patients feel heard, respected, and involved in their treatment decisions. Whether you're seeking an ADHD evaluation, struggling with anxiety or depression, managing a mood disorder, or looking for ongoing medication management, Marrisa is dedicated to helping you achieve greater emotional balance, confidence, and overall well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe mental health care should be a partnership, and my goal is to make you feel comfortable, supported, and confident in your treatment. During our appointments, I'll take the time to get to know you beyond your symptoms, understand your concerns, and learn what you hope to achieve. Together, we'll explore treatment options and develop a personalized plan that fits your needs, lifestyle, and goals. I believe in open communication, patient education, and making sure you feel informed and involved in every decision. Whether you're exploring medication for the first time, looking to adjust your current treatment, or simply seeking answers about what you're experiencing, we'll work together to find the right approach. I understand that reaching out for mental health support can feel overwhelming, and I strive to make the process approachable, judgment-free, and encouraging. My goal is not just to help manage symptoms, but to help you feel more like yourself and improve your overall quality of life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In your first session, we will take time for you to tell your story, share your goals, and discuss how I can help you achieve them. I want you to feel comfortable being vulnerable so we can work together to find solutions. I embrace holistic options as well as traditional medication therapy. We will tailor your treatment plan to what feels right for you!
