Mary Pirotte Hemphill, O.D., received her Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California University of Health Sciences and earned her Bachelor of Science in Vision Science from the University of Kansas. After graduation, she joined the staff as an optometrist at the Eye Center of Kansas City/Hunkler Eye Center for approximately eight years, providing primary care and pre- and post-operative surgical care.
Specializing in geriatrics, Dr. Hemphill wanted to be involved in healthcare and have a profession, not just a job after school. She loves figuring out what each patient needs from her and communicating clearly what they need to know so they can understand their eye care needs.
She is a member of the Kansas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Hemphill has been with Windmill Eye Associates since 1997. In addition to seeing patients at Olathe Family Vision West, she enjoys singing in her church choir, yoga, traveling, going to estate sales, and refinishing furniture.
